| Abstract: | The French Lieutenant's Woman presents a realistic picture of Victorian society by shaping some typical figures of that time,and at the same time sharply criticizes the hypocritical ideology toward morality and constraint and repression upon people.It analyzes the main characters' different pursues and the costs they pay under the heavy pressure of the Victorian society from the perspective of morality,aiming at paying a tribute to freedom and criticizing hypocrisy. |
