| Abstract: | A Rose for Emily expresses strong ethical significance and the care for value world by crossing the borders of death and life. Human existence is both material and spiritual. Spirit is much more important than the body. Although Emily lives in the present moment, her values and ethics are towards the past. The split between spirit and body makes the tragedy of Emily necessary course. Faulkner makes every reader to give a rose of pity by crossing the borders of death and life. This kind of pity belongs to human itself by transcending the limits of north and south, death and life. In this sense, William Faulkner is nG： only the pride of south, but also the treasure of human race. |
