| 摘 要： | 美国西部曾是尚处于开发中的边远地区，但在19世纪后半期却基本实现了城市化，而在此过程中，铁路作为当时美国经济发展的中心，发挥了十分特殊和非常重要的作用。一方面它通过促进工业化和提供便捷的交通运输服务，推动了经济和人口重心向城市的转移；另一方面又通过创建铁路城镇和形成地区性中心城市，直接增加了美国西部城市的数量，改善了美国西部城市的结构布局。

| Abstract: | The US Western Part used to be the border areas being developed, but it was fundamentally urbanized in the later half of the 19~(th) century, and in the process, railways, being the center US economic development at that time, played a special and very important role. Railways, on one hand, accelerate the shift of economy and population center, and on the other hand, they directly helped to increase the number of cities and improved the layouts of the cities there by constructing railway cities and building regional central cities. |
