Training Librarians as Qualitative Researchers: Developing Skills and Knowledge

Abstract:Preparing library and information science (LIS) professionals for the changing contexts in which they work requires them to understand qualitative research methods. Finding appropriate theories and approaches to teaching qualitative research methods is essential to develop librarians and other graduate students as qualitative researchers. The purpose of this article is to examine and discuss these and other learning theories as well as additional strategies and methods for teaching qualitative research methodology to librarians and novice researchers.
