Abstract:This paper deals with a subspecies of bird malarie parasite from Lanius schach to Pycnonotus jocosus, and then we carry on investigations in four Pycnonotus jocosus. The development of this parasite from infected bird to a new one is very well, if it is passaged by a little infected blood. They are growing luxurintly and would not change its original characteristics. In the present experiment, 7 Pycnonotus jocosus, 2 Canaries, 2 Garrulax canorus, 3. Kweilin leiothrix lutea, 3 Pigeons and 2 Quails were inocubated with infected blood from the Lanius schach. In result, 3 Kweilin Leiothrix luctea and 2 Garrulax canorus were death for the accident after inoculating and Pigeons and Quails, have been determented to faile to infected with this parasite. The incubation period of this parsite in the canary cases because they was 21 days but disappearanced rapidly, but however, the parasite developes very well in 7 Pycnonotus jocosus (except No.2 bird was death after incuations in 2 hours). In the infected birds, such as No.l, No.3, No.5, No.7, No.8, and No.9, the incubation period of this parasite in those birds was 33, 36, 34, 33, 31 and 40 days, respectively with various asexual stages and gametocytes appearing in their peripheral circulations. The parasitemia of this parasite usually increases rapidly so it would be passaged into the other new birds as soon as possible. The youngest forms and mature schizonts of this parasite are similar to the same stages of P.rouxi. Both of two parasites appear only four merozoites but the diagnostic character of the 'bow-tie' schizont obviously seen in P. rouxi, we believe that the parasite may be continual infections in the Red-whiskered Bulbul for a long time and their red blood cells may be adaptei for the parasite of passerine to habitation and multiply. The Pycnonotus jocosus could be successive passaged for avian malaria parasite, it may the experimental host, we believe that it may possible become.
