| 摘 要： | 凯列班不能仅仅被视为纯粹邪恶的象征,他不同于老一代的邪恶势力———他的母亲西考拉克斯;他的兽性与安东尼奥败坏的人性也是有区别的。普洛斯彼罗提供的凯列班的形象也仅仅是他自己的发明,我们不能以此来界定他。在凯列班身上,我们既看到了对美好事物的渴望,也看到了原始状态下趋向邪恶的力量。他的野性是人性的原始形式,而他是介于兽与人之间的“半人类”。

| Abstract: | Caliban cannot only be .seen as the embodiment of pure evil for he is different from the old generation of evil his mother Syeorax. There is also between his brutal nature and the debased human nature of Antonio. The image of Caliban provided by Prodpero is his own invention and we cannot define him in this way. In Caliban, we can see both his aspiration for beauty and his tendency towards the evil in an undeveloped form. His brutal nature is just the primitive form of human nature and he is half- human, the nature between brute and man. |
