Faculty Participation in Book Selection in a Large Academic Library |
| |
Abstract: | Faculty participation in book selection in academic libraries is considered a desirable goal, but one which can have pitfalls, even in a setting where acquisition funds are entirely controlled by the library. This article describes a successful cooperative book selection arrangement which makes use of a faculty library committee and subject bibliographers for book selection in both a traditional, closely-defined field (German literature and philology) and an interdisciplinary area (German studies). |
