Public Use of Compact Shelving |

| Abstract: | Compact shelving can be used successfully to store a high-use book or periodical collection in an undergraduate library. A questionnaire was distributed to libraries presently using compact shelving in public areas. Responses indicate satisfaction with patron acceptance and use, ease of operation and maintenance, and safety features. Problems arise with limited access caused by aisle design. |
