| Abstract: | Wang Changling, a poet in Tang Dynasty, portrayed a series of images of misserable and heartbroken maids in the imperial palace in his well-known poems of palace resentment which are rich in ideological content and of great artistic value. The poet showed profound sympathy for those maids confined to palace chanbers, arousing hatred in the readers for the wciked system of emperors keeping concubines, and also finding sustenance in the poems for his own resentment for his lifetime frustrations as a genius. |
