| Abstract: | Amidst the global financial crisis, the International Olympic Committee has lost three TOP sponsors, London has scaled back on its 2012 Olympic plan, and FIFA is worried the credit crunch would affect 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In China, it appears to be a different picture. Guangzhou, the host to the 2010 Asian Games, has signed 14 sponsors while Shandong, the eastern province that will hold the 2009 Chinese National Games, has secured seven big-name sponsors out of the targeted 12. The preparation for the 2011 World Swimming Championships in Shanghai is going well and Li Zhansbu, the governor of Heilongjiang, said the world economic downturn would not hurt the Winter University Games to be held in the northeasteru Chinese province in February. |
