| 摘 要： | 西方最古老的“文化”概念是一个自然哲学范畴。从词源上讲，英文的culture、法文的culture、德文的Kultur均源于拉丁文的cultura，而拉丁文cultura是指与自然存在的东西相统一的事物、以及通过人为的活动去整治自然。colcre（colo）的原意包含：保护、耕种、培育、崇拜、祭祀——其主要反映的是人与自然之间的交涉和对自然的崇拜，即指人类“保护”和“加工”自然生长物。英语中的culture原意包含：注意、耕作、景仰、敬神——其原始意义在于人对自然生长实施管理，即对土地的保护、耕耘及景仰，后来逐步引伸和扩大为对人的培养、教养，或表示人类应有的修养。而“修养”（culti—vation）则内涵“均衡发展”之义。因此，具有“保护”与“耕作”（开发）“二重性”的“文化”，作为对自然所作的人类性补充，内隐着人类追求“可持续发展”的意向；“均衡发展”则内隐着“科学发展”的意味。
