摘    要:工科教育在建国初十年中的院系调整中,由边缘地位上升到主流地位,一改旧中国“文重工轻”的状况,确立了我国高等教育的基本组织结构,工程院校的数量在整个高等学校中几乎独占鳌头,其地域分布由沿海地区向内陆转移,高校中工程类系科设置比重大幅增加并最终形成了我国高校“重理轻文”的状况。文章以开放理性的态度和历史的观点看待院系调整中形成的工科教育以及其在高等教育系统中的地位。

Abstract:In the first decade of New China,with engineering becoming the main science,our higher educational system was reconstructed.The number of engineering colleges and universities became the champion,which were distributed from the coastal regions to inner China,and the number of disciplines and departments in universities multiplied,which fundamentally changed the situation of "emphasizing liberal arts and neglecting engineering".This paper discusses,with rationality and a historic point of view,the significance of this faculty adjustment and the role of engineering science in higher education.
