| 摘 要： | 从原型理论角度看,斯坦贝克的作品《逃亡》主人公皮皮的逃亡过程实际上是其追求心理个体化(Indi-viduation)的象征过程。由于"个体化"过程的普遍性,事件发生时间的模糊性,活动环境的原始性,该作品不仅成为斯坦贝克创作普世性的又一例证,而且对一直以来把他片面定位为"无产阶级"作家是一个纠偏。

| Abstract: | The once stereotyped ＂proletarian＂ writer Steinbeck has interested critics in recent years and the universality of his writing has received more and more attention and confirmation nowadays. This has balanced the overdue focus upon his social class concern. It is with the attention to the universality of Steinbeck＇ s writing and with the help of C. G. Jung＇s theory of collective unconscious that this essay better interpretes Steinbeck＇s selective narration of the story plot, character behaviors and the natural enviroment and duely points out that the process of the hero＇s flight is indeed a symbolic process of individuation. Because of the ambiguity of time, the primodialness of the environment, and the universality of the process of individuation, this story offers as anoth-er example for the universality of Steinbeck＇s writing. |
