| Abstract: | Slang is a most colorful and vivid member of the family of language.This essay discusses English slangs from four aspects: the definition of slangs,the formation of American slangs,the resources of American slangs and the features of American slangs.The conclusion can be drawn that slang is the language form which is very informal yet rich in cultural connotations and the spirit of the times.The author holds that the domestic foreign language circles should dispel prejudices against slang and recognize its linguistic and cultural values. |
