| Abstract: | Since the beginning of the 20 th century,the development of library science in China has had 3 stages:in the first stage,from the beginning of the 20 th century to the foundation of the People's Republic in 1949,there was a transformation from ancient libraries into modern libraries;in the second stage,from 1949 to 1978,there was a further development;the third stage,from 1978 to the present,is the best period of Chinese librarianship, when number of various kinds of libraries increases rapidly,and libraries are developing towards modernisation,automation and networking. 1 ref. |
