| 摘 要： | 近代中国动荡的社会时局与变奏的知识场域给置身其中的知识分子带来极大的冲击。因此,他们想像、择取与书写＂西方形象＂,严复就是其中最有影响的代表人物之一。他为我们勾勒了一个多维度的＂西方形象＂：经济发达、科技先进、富有创造性,呈现出一派欣欣向荣的景象;政治上高扬自由、民主、平等与博爱的主题,但支持帝国主义列强的侵略扩张;文化与民俗自由、开放,体现出人本关怀,却也存在道德滞后的情形。严复通过中西跨际比较、西方社会内部的纵向对照以及话语置换等方式,将改造后的＂西方形象＂与固有的民族集体意识中的核心层次产生共振,从而实现了近代知识分子强烈的优先言说诉求,并因此展开对民族与国家的反思、批判和重构。

| Abstract: | The social unrest in modern times and the change in the learning arena had brought great shock to the then Chinese intellectuals,who therefore imagined,selected and composed the ＂image of the West＂,with Yan Fu as one of the most influential representatives.Yan had sketched for us a multi-dimensional ＂image of the West＂： advanced in economy and technology—a picture of prosperity,with freedom,democracy,equality and universal fraternity in politics despite its support of aggression and expansion by imperialists,and marked by freedom and openness in culture and folklore—a demonstration of human concern,in spite of its moral backwardness.Yan Fu initiated some resonance between the reformed ＂western image＂ and the core level of the inherent national collective consciousness through a comparison of China and the West,a longitudinal comparison within Western society and discourse substitution,thus having realized the priority claim from intellectuals in modern times and conducted reflections on,criticism and reconstruction of the nation and country. |
