| 摘 要： | 西奥图.德莱塞是美国自然主义的代表人物,在他的自然主义理论中,最值得注意的是他的道德相对论。《嘉莉妹妹》的伦理观念,充分体现了他的相对论。小说主人公嘉莉先后做过两个男人的情妇,不仅没有受到惩罚,最终还成为了一个有钱的明星。在某种程度上,由嘉莉的经历所折射出的道德观,为现代社会中来到大城市寻梦的女孩子敲响了警钟。

| Abstract: | Sister Carrie is Theodore Dreiser's first long novel.Dreiser is the representative of naturalism in America.Among his belief in naturalism,the most conspicuous one is his theory of ethics relativity,which is shown unsystematically in his novels,especially in Sister Carrie.The publication of the book has experienced a winding course because the moral standards presented in this novel and Carrie's unconceivable end are opposed to the social conventions of that time.In this novel,Carrie has been two men's mistress.She does not suffer punishment,but becomes a famous and wealthy actress.To some degree,Carrie's life experience is an alarm to the current young girls who are eager to realize their life dreams in big cities. |
