| Abstract: | The Renaissance and religious reform used to hav e the following influences on traditional universities: the dominant scholastic co urses offered at universities in the Middle Ages were shocked; the popularizatio n process of universities was accelerated; universities were transformed from in ternational institutions into national institutions and the academic freedom beg an to appear. The evolution history of European universities in the Middle Ages indicates that the embryonic form of modern university began to appear dur ing the period of the Renaissance and religious reform, though the reform of uni versities was finally completed at the beginning of the 19th century. |
