| 摘 要： | 考察明朝万历皇帝时期党争的起源，应该从历史渊源和政治背景两个角度出发。一方面，中国政治传统里允许官员上书议政，此外，万历帝亲政之初也刻意开放言路，从而为党争提供了言论空间；另一方面，从明代中期就开始形成政治集团之间勾结言官的斗争，这种情况延续到万历朝，并且皇帝和内阁无力压制官员议政，皇帝怠政，不能及时解决争端，内阁拉拢分化言官，挑起党争。
