| Abstract: | English for academic purposes in sports may be defined as a subsystem of the English language that is applied in research and academic exchange in the field of sports. Naturally, it shares with other subsystems the common core of the English language, but it also differs to some extent from other subsystems in many respects. The cause of the differences consists in its function and use. The purpose of this article is to make a stylistic study of the characteristics of English for academic purposes in sports embodied in the lexical, grammatical and textual dimensions. |
