| Abstract: | During the late 19th century to the early 20th century professional sports clubs appeared in Europe and America and developed quickly. The historical backgrounds are as follows: the appearance of the amateur sports club, the decline of gymnastics and the development of athletics, the similar trend of recreation in different classes, the expansion of sport beyond the circles of students and nobles as well as the commercialization tendency of recreation. |
