习语类型和呈现方式在英语习语直接学习中的效果研究

摘    要:通过测试受试在单词列表和句子语境两种习语呈现方式下学习和汉语习语相似的和相异的英语习语时,对所学习语意义的记忆,考察了习语类型和习语呈现方式对ESL学习者直接学习英语习语的影响。结果显示:语境方式更有利于受试对英语习语意义的记忆;受试在记忆与汉语习语相似的英语习语时表现出明显优势;习语类型和习语呈现方式两个变量之间无交互作用,各自独立影响习语的学习效果。

Abstract:The present research makes an attempt to study the effects of idiom types and modes of idiom presentation on the direct learning of English idioms with the retention of word meaning as the main focus.Based on theories and findings in psycholinguistics,the research question of this study was specified as the following: for the learning of 2 types of ESL idioms(similar vs.different idioms),which mode of presentation-with sentence context or in wordlist,can produce better memory for word meaning in the immediate and delayed tests? The results reveal that sentence context facilitates retention of idiom meaning both immediately and after delays of 7 days better than wordlist.The effect on the immediate and delayed recall of similar idiom meaning is significantly positive.There is no interaction between the two dependent variables-mode of presentation and idiom type.
