| 摘 要： | 比较理论认为，隐喻理解始于辨认其中的比较，然後按本义比较方式理解。Glucksberg和Keysar（1990）提出，隐喻是范畴包容性断言，本体被归于一个用喻体命名的临时范畴。本文举证支持了这一模型。另一问题涉及Lakoff和Johnson（1980）提出的概念隐喻。Gibbs（1992）坚持认为，隐喻是长时记忆中的概念映射的实现，隐喻理解利用概念隐喻。范畴包容模型认为，隐喻理解无需调用概念隐喻。本文论证，概念隐喻是在隐喻理解後被认识的，其作用是解释隐喻的系统性。结论：比较过程和概念隐喻在隐喻理解申没有被使用。隐喻理解是一种范畴化过程，把本体归于一个喻体代表的上级范畴，井把喻体的特性赋予本体。

| Abstract: | Proponents of the comparison view have claimed that metaphor comprehension begins with the recognition of the comparison implied by a metaphor. Once the comparison is recognized, it is then interpreted in the same manner as a literal comparison. Glucksberg and Keysar （1990） suggests that metaphors are not transformed into comparisons, but rather are understood as class-inclusion assertions, in which the metaphor topic is assigned to a temporary category and the vehicle refers to that abstract category, at the same time is a prototypical exemplar of that category. The paper presents various evidences in supporting this model. Another issue concerns the role of conceptual metaphors proposed by Lakoff and Johnson （1980）. Gibbs （1992） argues that metaphoric expressions are instantiations of preexisting conceptual mappings in long-term memory and metaphor comprehension makes use of such conceptual metaphors. The class-inclusion model assumes that prestored conceptual mappings may be available, but they may not be accessed in metaphor comprehension. The paper points out problems in identifying those metaphorical mappings and argues that conceptual metaphors can only be identified after the metaphor itself has been understood and their role is to provide a coherent account of systematicities in metaphor use. The conclusion is that comparison processes and conceptual mappings are not used in on-line metaphor comprehension. Metaphor comprehension is categorization, which assigns the topic to a superordinate category denoted by the vehicle and attributes the properties of the vehicle to the topic. |
