| 摘 要： | 文章在回顾我国部分公共图书馆实行免费服务短暂历程的基础上，将公共图书馆的免费服务放在构建公共文化服务体系、促进文化事业大发展大繁荣以及国际图书馆通行做法的视野下加以关照，认为免费服务虽然给公共图书馆带来了各方面的压力，但这些压力毕竞是暂时的，免费服务是公共图书馆事业继续发展的必然趋势。最后，文章提出了解决这些问题的对策。
