Bibliographic Dispersion of Early Periodicals |
| |
Abstract: | As scholars are well aware, the scientific and technical periodicals of the 17th and 18th centuries are difficult to identify and to locate. To test this observation 640 scientific and technical periodicals published in the period 1791 to 1800 were drawn from four well-known source lists and searched in three major national union lists of serials. The results revealed that not only were the titles widely scattered in the source lists, but that only 57 percent of all the titles could be located in any of the national union lists. |
