| Abstract: | As a popular reading promotion program in the US,1000BooksB4K aims to help preschoolers under the age of six to develop early reading awareness and improve their early literacy.Public libraries participating in 1000BooksB4K not only provide high-quality early reading services for such preschoolers,but also spread the idea of early reading among the parents and provide reading methodological guidance for them,so as to improve their awareness of early reading as well as their ability to cultivate their children’s early reading skills.This paper first gives an introduction to 1000BooksB4K’s background,idea and contents,and then makes an analysis of its achievements and deficiencies,so that it could be inspiring for the development of early reading promotion in Chinese libraries. |
