| Abstract: | Over a period of four decades Professor Lancaster has continuously emerged as a famous scholar in the field of library and information science（ LIS）. He has a high reputation and great influence in the area of underlying structure for online retrieval systems,subject analysis,thesaurus construction,assessment system in library science. He is famous for his accurate prediction of a ＂paperless society ＂ and specialization in bibliometrics. Combing the profound analysis of his classical works and the h index by his followers,the authors of this article are aiming at promoting the researches on the theories and practices of the library and information science in China. |
