美国图书馆学与信息科学教育认可制度的变革与启示

摘    要:基于文献调查法与内容分析法,归纳并解析美国图书馆学与信息科学教育认可制度的发展历程及其在认可标准制定原则、适用学科领域、认可对象、基本条款等方面的变革,发现认可标准制定原则由重“量”变为重“质”,适用学科领域由图书馆学扩展到图书馆学与信息科学,认可对象由早期的各类型图书馆学院发展到具有图书馆与信息科学研究生授予权的院系,认可标准的基本条款在任务及目标、课程、教师、学生、行政管理与经费支持、硬件资源和设备等方面也有许多变化。这些变革给我国图书馆学与信息科学教育的启示是:应该注重和发展研究生教育,构建一体化学科,提高教育质量,制定教育认可标准。

Abstract:Based on methods of literature survey and content analysis, this paper induces and analyzes the development processes of library and information science education in America, and its revolutions in the principles of making standards about accreditation, applicative discipline scopes, accreditation objects and basic terms of accreditation systems. It finds that principles of making standards about accreditation have changed from emphasis on quantity to quality, applicative discipline scopes are expanded from library science to library and information science, accreditation objects have changed from all kinds of library schools in early stages to schools or departments which have the right to grant master degree of library and information science, and basic terms of accreditation standards have changed in mission and goals, curriculum, faculty, students, administration and financial support, physical resources and facilities. Those revolutions give some enlightenments to library and information science education in China, which include that postgraduate education of library and information science should be emphasized and developed, an integration disciplines of library and information science should be established, the quality of library and information science education should be improved, and the accreditation standards of library and information science education should be made.
