| Abstract: | The author thinks that the shortcomings in basic research of library science in contemporary China result from the lack of the comprehensive and correct understanding of the emphasis of professional basic research, which affects the healthy development of professional activities. The author appeals for clarifying library social functions, giving clear definition of the category of library professional activities, and strengthening the induction and abstraction of the methodological innovations of library professional activities in contemporary China, which are the challenges of the basic research of library science and the requirements for subject construction and library development in contemporary China. |
