Abstract Many archivists regard the archival imagination evidenced in the writings of David Bearman as avant-garde. Archivist Linda Henry has sharply criticized Bearman for being irreverent toward the archival theory and practice outlined by classical American archivist T. R. Schellenberg. Although Bearman is sometimes credited-and sometimes berated-for establishing “a new paradigm” centered on the archival management of electronic records, his methods and strategies are intended to encompass all forms of record keeping. The essay provides general observations on Bearman's archival imagination, lists some of its components, and addresses elements of Henry's critique. Although the longlasting impact of Bearman's imagination upon the archival profession might be questioned, it nonetheless deserves continued consideration by archivists and inclusion as a component of graduate archival education. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Based on a keynote address to the 2018 International Society for First World War Studies conference, the author’s survey of a centenary of archival endeavour comprises four time periods and two themes. It highlights the unique role of the Australian War Memorial and its initial documentation priorities favouring Dr C.E.W. Bean’s official war history, the battlefront and the war dead. A post-centenary open-ended aftermath is also discussed covering processing backlogs, the prospective idea of ‘digital breakthrough’ and the archival implications of ever-widening understandings of the war and its endless aftermaths. The paper ends with an appeal for new voices in researching the documentation of Australia’s Great War experience. 相似文献

中国少数民族档案史既是中国档案事业史的分支,又是中国少数民族史学的部门史.但迄今为止,对这门边缘学科的创建问题尚未引起档案界学人的关注,属于一项填补空白的课题.这项课题难点虽多,但意义重大,亟待开展研究.一、中国少数民族档案史研究亟待开展中国少数民族档案史是一个边缘学科,它既是中国档案史的分支学科,又是中国少数民族史学的部门史,同时又和民族学、人类学、宗教学、史料学、文献学、古籍学、文物学、考古学等学科有着密切的关系,具有明显的跨学科性质,研究中国少数民族档案史,要充分利用中国民族史、民族史料学、边疆考古学等学科的研究成果,深入挖掘古代各民族的档案史料、出土文物,以补充中国少数民族档案史文献资料的不足,并提供实物见证.中国少数民族档案史有着广阔的发展空间,关键问题是如何在前人研究的基础上,对少数民族档案史的整体构架、研究范围、研究视角、研究资料及发展脉络等,进行较为宏观的整合和描述,梳理历史史实,分析历史现象,阐述历史特点,总结历史规律,而系统地收集整理有关少数民族档案史的资料尤其重要. 相似文献

本文结合文献计量分析法和文献研读法,对2022年《档案学研究》和《档案学通讯》所刊发的207篇学术论文进行研究力量布局与研究主题分布分析,并与2021年分析结果相比较,发现高等院校仍是档案学研究的主体力量,来自业界的研究力量有所增强。2022年中国档案学研究依旧关注“档案学基础理论”“档案治理”“档案与数字人文”“电子文件”“中国古文书学”等主题,但也涌现了“红色档案”和“档案学科建设与发展”等新主题;研究特点上呈现显著的本土化和跨学科性,但在关注“人”的需求、跨学科的双向互动以及研究深度上仍有待加强。未来中国档案学研究仍需立足中国档案工作的实际和需求,对从西方移植的理论进行本土化、中国化的过滤和处理,对中国传统的档案思想进行创新性转化和发展,同时,基于档案工作、档案事业发展的新实践和新需求,提出新的思想和理论。 相似文献

互联网政务服务平台建设是整体型政府改革的突出表现,强调信息资源的集中管理与共建共享,这与我国档案管理的集中统一原则以及档案信息资源整合共享思想具有相同内核。在回顾上述原则与思想的基础上,论文指出档案信息资源集中统一建设、档案共享利用和“事前”统筹规划是互联网政务服务背景下档案管理的新要求。基于实地调查与案例分析,论文结合我国当下分别以行政审批档案为整体和以电子证照档案为整体的两种思维,总结出互联网政务服务档案资源建设的两种模式。最后,论文提出“整体观”管理是指,互联网政务服务档案资源建设要涵盖横向与纵向两个业务层面,并根据前端业务模式及档案部门所面向的利用需求,对体制机制、管理制度、系统平台与档案实体等要素进行统筹规划与协调管理。 相似文献

SUMMARY Archive repository web pages have become more sophisticated in the past several years, and information about repository holdings is often readily available online. However, so long as full archival records are not available electronically, archivists will have to contend with the increase in reference requests from remote users. Focusing on the inter-war period, this article examines the context of the publication of Sir Hilary Jenkinson’s Manual of Archive Administration alongside the less well-known contemporary publication of Arthur Schomburg’s ‘The Negro Digs up his Past’. By placing these publications together, this article raises questions about the production and reproduction of the professional canon, as well as highlighting Schomburg’s contribution to key archival questions on the nature of collecting. This work discusses Schomburg’s articulation of the purpose of archival collecting which offers a radically different conception of the value and use of archives, one that focuses on the concepts of recovery and transformation. This article also places Schomburg within the wider emergence of the Pan-African movement and situates his work within the developing Pan-African ideologies and the networks in which he operated, and argues that Schomburg’s legacy can be found in the development of Black-led archives in London. 相似文献
