Although there has been concern about sex and violence on television since the 1950s, little is known about the determinants of public opinion concerning the regulatory response to “inappropriate” television content. Here the Annenberg National Health Communication Survey (ANHCS) is used to predict support for fining television stations for violent and sexual content from a set of precursor demographic, attitudinal, political affiliation, and television exposure variables. The results show that support for fining television stations is primarily a result of the beliefs that sex and violence on television causes sex and violence in teenagers. 相似文献

Conclusion Given the current (sorry) state of retrieval products for multimedia databases, we found this package to be quite useful.
But the vendor still needs to put some effort in to making it a good product. Tools for learning the software and availability
of vendor support need to be improved, and bugs in the mouse- based interface need to be eliminated. Some confusion in the
structure needs to be clarified. It certainly appears to be a decent product to distribute as a retrieval tool for a CD ROM

Patents are invaluable sources of technological information, of importance not only to inventors, but also to the processes of economic development and technology transfer. Researching patents is an excellent means of tracking a business competitor, forecasting technological innovation, learning how to make and use a device or process, and finding answers to specific technical problems. Nevertheless, patents are under-used as sources of technical information. Many libraries, including the libraries of Penn State University, have established outreach programs to overcome that low use. Through the provision of such programs, libraries have the potential to be key players in the development of closer ties among universities, industries, and individual entrepreneurs. Locating patent information may not be an easy task, but it is not as complicated as many think. The development of computerized information systems has simplified the search process. Reference librarians, even non-documents librarians, can be of enormous assistance in leading researchers to patent information.
