The direction of graduate education in sport psychology has changed considerably since its emergence as a recognizable subdiscipline within exercise and sport science in the late 1960s. This paper describes (a) the structure of current sport psychology specializations within graduate programs based on a survey of 33 programs with sport psychology specializations in the United States, (b) trends in sport psychology graduate education, and (c) concerns regarding the future of graduate education in sport psychology in terms of coursework, research, and applied service provision.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

There are varied approaches that have been used in sport for development (SFD) projects. This article is focused on the move by sport and exercise psychology researchers toward community-based SFD projects where marginalized groups are centralized. The authors have chosen two of their projects to exemplify different approaches to SFD. An initial project with an Aboriginal community is critically examined to reveal cultural missteps that perpetuated cultural colonization–something antithetical to community capacity building. The second project is then considered because of its closer alignment with cultural praxis and community capacity building. This second project focuses on the initial developments of a YMCA physical activity project designed to meet the needs of forced immigrants (a self-titled name developed by the refugee community members) and the staff who work with them. We culminate with five postulates proposed for SFD project teams derived from our vantage in sport and exercise psychology, where community engagement and eventual self-governance are imperatives.  相似文献

One of the most significant aspects of current sport psychology research is the trend toward developing the relationship between theoretical concepts and practical applications. There have been many recent calls for the development of specific experimental paradigms closely linked to critical features of movement control and social interaction within specific frames of reference such as competitive sport (e.g., Lee & Young, 1985; Martens, 1979). The concept of ecological validity has been proposed as a crucial element of this current research thrust, and this paper attempts to identify and define some of the more important criteria underpinning ecologically valid research in sport psychology. Vision and sport performance is used as an exemplary area of investigation in which problematic and specific issues are examined. The basis of this critique has important implications for other areas of interest in the application of the behavioral sciences to sport. It is concluded that much greater debate must be stimulated concerning this important methodological principle, and a preliminary definition is provided for this purpose as well as to aid in the process of research evaluation in sport psychology.  相似文献

This paper discusses the application and effects of technocratic ideology in schooling and educational policy in the United States, and traces it up through present planning for ‘virtual libraries’ and rethinking of educational structures. This is done by reviewing the development of educational structures and policies and by looking at selected developmental/historical periods in American life when technocratic ideology was particularly influential in schooling and educational policy. Through this process the authors establish ideological connections between technocracy, education and the new educational processes that virtual libraries represent. In this analysis virtual libraries are the newest site of the extension, deepening and possible totalizing of the values of technocratic educational policy and processes.

The paper begins with a brief definition of the concept of technocracy which is placed in its historical context. An overview of the historical periods of dominant technocratic ideology in American education is then presented. The overview covers particular eras from the early nineteenth century through the 1980s, tracing the manifestations of technocracy in educational practice and policy (the early industrial era, the era of Scientific Management and social efficiency, the Sputnik era and the push for computers in education). The paper then turns to an analysis of current technocratic education reforms and the connections to the “virtual library”. The virtual library is representative of this historical technocratic pattern, and‐‐at least as currently envisioned‐‐is the next technocratic extension into education. Using content and archival analysis as a mixed method research design, this study addresses the broad issue of self-regulation since this subject area first appeared in the developmental psychology journals, addressing the question of whether each historical period had its own particular perspective on self-regulation, or was there, in fact, a progressive development? This research also explored the historical basis of current perspectives in order to provide background and continuity for present theories and the discussion of implications for families, professionals, and communities in supporting the development of self-regulation in infants and children.  相似文献

采用专家访谈法、网上查询法和文献资料法对2006年我国田径投掷项目竞技科研进展进行了全面的分析研究,得出以下结论:技术、体能与竞技能力论文数量占绝大多数,技术、体能与竞技能力、项目特征这3大类科研成果多,训练监控、心理研究力度不够,战术科研甚至处于空白状态,具体项目上铁饼、标枪心理,训练监控除标枪外,链球项目特征研究也都是空白。建议要加大战术、训练监控、心理科研投入力度,不断提高论文的数量和质量。  相似文献

The association between vigorous exercise and certain aspects of mental health is well documented. Explanations for this relationship are not well understood, however, and recent developments in sport psychology suggest a renewed interest in health-related topics. Paradoxically, the more fundamental or prerequisite issue of exercise adherence has received little attention from a psychological perspective. Moreover, the research related to adherence has tended ro be atheoretical and unsystematic. The following discussion is designed to reinforce the significance of understanding influences on habitual exercise behavior and to characterize the nature of previous research in this area. An attempt is also made to provide some heuristic advantages which may facilitate future study of the exercise adherence question at both basic and applied levels.  相似文献

Courses in a wide variety of disciplines emphasize that what we think important, and are therefore likely to remember, is not the result of the objective situation but rather the result of our individual biases and interpretations. This article presents a classroom exercise that aids students in grasping the interpretive nature of historical accounts. Students in a history of psychology class and an Introduction to Human Services class (the control group) completed a questionnaire measuring the degree to which they view history as an interpretive enterprise versus a static one. In the psychology class, students then participated in an exercise that compared collective memories of a classroom event to emphasize the interpretive nature of personal history. Students in both classes completed the questionnaire a second time. Those students that completed the exercise scored higher on the follow-up questionnaire than did those in the control class. We discuss this exercise as a technique to aid students in grasping the importance of understanding the impact of individual perceptions of events.  相似文献

Implicit within a perspective of positive psychology is the assumption that environments can be promoted to foster individual strengths through a preventative focus and the development of positive institutions. Given that the development of positive institutions has direct implications for school psychology, this paper begins to draw attention to the potential of positive psychology within school systems. Throughout the paper, it is suggested that a focus on schools may serve as the nexus between the movement in positive psychology searching to promote positive human development and the institutions that could serve as the vehicle for this development. Historic and emerging trends are examined, with particular attention to how positive psychology could promote the development of positive schools (institutions) that foster success for all students. Specifically, the parallel histories of discontent with deficit‐oriented practice in the fields of mental health and school psychology are reviewed, and precursors to building and maintaining positive institutions that focus on working within the existing system to promote lasting change are explored. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The goal of this research endeavor is to take the previous calls of sport scholars to expand into alternative research approaches (e.g., history, case study, law reviews, philosophy, etc.) and to show how storytelling can be an effective tool through the use of a heuristic device. The present analysis attempts to focus on the usage of the historical ideal-type as a heuristic device for academic storytelling so that scholars within sport studies can possibly become more comfortable in other methodological approaches. To support this goal, an example of a sport-focused historical ideal-type is reviewed along with an ideal-type activity practiced in other disciplines. Finally, the contribution and employment of academic storytelling and historical ideal-types will be promoted as an important tactic to enhance the impact of a scholar’s academic findings and overall writing potential.  相似文献

运用科学知识图谱方法,对全国知网数据库2008—2017年收录的我国运动心理学研究3260篇核心文献数据进行科学计量与可视化分析,力图揭示我国运动心理学研究的热点与发展进程。研究表明:我国运动心理学研究年发文数量呈波浪式前进;核心科研机构由北京体育大学、上海体育学院、华东师范大学体育与健康学院等构成,核心科研者以张力为、季浏、王斌等为代表,体育院校和师范类院校各科研共同体成为运动心理学发展的主要推动力量;我国运动心理学研究热点主要集中在提升各群体心理健康水平,研究对象不断扩展,研究热点时区呈现探索反思、拓展创新两个阶段,研究内容为心理训练、技能学习、社会适应、体育教学过程、体育活动、锻炼康复等。  相似文献

历史传说,由于其流传中的增饰渲染,再经过不同时代、不同文化背景下的解读,难免会形成一些不同的说法。在没有进一步的材料支撑,难于取舍的情况下,司马迁对某些史料进行了糅合兼采的处理,折合两家或几家之说为一说。其问,无论是杂糅了相似的说法,还是折中了彼此矛盾之说,都保存了多方面的材料,也表达了自己在这一问题上的一家之言。但是,有时折合、调理得过分简单,也给读者造成了理解上的困难。所以,对于这一问题的探讨,不仅有助于我们更好地理解司马迁的史学思想,而且,对于我们今天的历史编纂也是一个很好的借鉴。  相似文献
