The purpose of this study was to ascertain differences in learning styles of 400 community college students in career and transfer programs as measured by the Canfield Learning Styles Inventory. Independent variables were program area and sex. Dependent variables were scores regarding each of the Learning Style Inventory Scales for the following categories: (a) conditions, (b) content, (c) mode, and (d) expectation. The data indicated: (1) female students have greater interest in areas of qualitative, people, and listening, (2) male students have a greater interest for the inanimate, (3) career students have greater interest for inanimate, greater expectations for average and below average performance, and (4) transfer students have greater expectations for above average performance. 相似文献

以厦门市两所高校的500名学生为被试,对大学生择业心理应激源进行探索性因素分析和差异检验。结果发现：厦门市大学生择业心理应激源主要包括社会因素、个人因素和家庭同伴因素等三个方面;厦门市大学生在择业心理应激源上出现性别差异、专业差异、院校差异和家庭背景差异。因此,对大学生进行择业心理指导时,应注意来自各方面的应激源,根据不同背景的大学生有针对性地进行指导。 相似文献

随班就读是全球融合教育在中国的具体实践,随班就读教师究竟需要怎样的“支持”才能满足残疾儿童在普通班级中的特殊教育需要？基于信效度较好的随班就读教师课堂支持问卷调查与分析结果表明,随班就读教师在社会性支持上的得分显著高于在技术性支持上的得分;在社会性支持中,教师在融合教育氛围上得分显著高于在学校领导支持上的得分,而在学校领导支持上的得分又显著高于在同事支持上的得分;在技术性支持中,教师在物理环境调整上的得分显著高于在教辅教具配置上的得分;而在教辅教具配置上的得分又显著高于在专业人员指导上的得分。基于研究结果,建议加强随班就读教师所需支持研究,规范开展随班就读工作的教室建设,提升特殊教育学校教师专业化水平。 相似文献

Teachers of two urban senior high schools talk about barriers and bridges in communicating with English as Second Language (ESL) minority students and their parents. The paper focuses on student, parent, and school characteristics with respect to intercultural communication. The typical ESL student is characterized to be alienated, displaced, and in denial of other cultures. Typical parents are distrustful of Western ways, resistant to adopting new values, patriarchal, yet dependent on their children. The school system is characterized as ethnocentric and uncommitted to providing equal services to all students including ESL students. The paper then focuses on student, parent, and school needs to enhance intercultural communication effectiveness. ESL students need to feel connected at many levels of society and to develop social communication skiils, self-empowerment, and greater sensitivity to other cultural minorities. Parents need a greater connection with the school system, a greater understanding of the tensions between their culture and the mainstream culture, greater collaboration skills, and less dependency upon their children as interpreters. Members of schools systems need to develop policies that reflect a greater awareness of intercultural problems and a greater commitment to equal educational opportunities.This study is partially supported by the Alberta Advisory Committee for Educational Studies (AACES). Situating the quest for ‘best practice’ in education in the early ambitions of the Royal Society of London and the early history of statistics, and in insights offered by John Dewey in his 1929 Gifford and Kappa Delta Pi lectures, the paper argues for greater appreciation of the uncertainties and complexities of teaching and learning and for greater modesty in researcher claims. It contends that the quest for best practices in education needs to be tempered with the notion of better over best practice by maintaining the value of, and the need for, a greater place for outliers in research. 相似文献
