The ability to read is one of the important standards to measure a student's English ability.Nowadays,in the reading class,traditional teaching modal like Grammar-Translation method is still prevailing and badly limits students' reading abilities.The author attempts to apply schema theory to the reading teaching and to deepen their understandings by drawing information from both the external graphic message and internal schemata until the two are reconciled as a single schema or message.In order to help students understand the reading material,a teacher's main task in to activate their relevant schemata.When the information cannot be understood with the activated schemata,the teacher should build knowledge on familiar information by giving more background knowledge to help students create new schemata.To sum up,a teacher should have a deep understanding that students' schemata play a very important role in reading comprehension.The teacher can use different methods to activate students' existing schemata or help students build new schemata according to different teaching situations,so that students' reading abilities can be improved.  相似文献

It is very important to understand the differences and relationships between implicit learning and explicit learning no matter from the theoretical perspective or practical perspective. It would make the English teaching in China more feasible and effective if these two kinds of learning patterns could be combined appropriately. Seen from the theoretical perspective, the logical explanation to different achievements made by implicit learners and explicit learners gives a significant inspiration for English teaching. Seen from the practical perspective, even a little child can master the mother tongue quickly while an adult seems to find it more difficult to be proficient of another language. In this paper, the author makes a tentative study on the influence of implicit and explicit learning in English teaching. Reading is a complex process of communication between writer and reader.Relevance theory proposes that communication is an ostensive-inferential process from the cognitive perspective.The thesis studies the English reading teaching approach for higher vocational students and applies it to the question type of reading comprehension test in PRETCO-A.It proposes three research questions in view of actual condition of teaching English reading.By the questionnaires and tests,the relevant data are collected,analyzed and discussed.Three research results are proved to be effective in reading teaching.  相似文献

Abstrct: According to College English Curriculum Requirements(2007), reading is the main training aim of our college English teaching. And for the college graduates, reading is the main way through which they obtain information needed in their specialty.Most often, students think their problem in reading is vocabulary, which is not necessarily true. Sometimes even the readers look up all the new words, it is still hard for them to understand the text exactly and thoroughly. Though vocabulary plays an important role in reading comprehension, it may not be the biggest hindrance on our way of correct comprehending. English reading teaching shouldn’t be confined to the teaching of vocabulary or sentences but should develop students’ ability to analyze text beyond sentence level. It’s impossible to cover all the aspects of discourse analysis in one article and since cohesion is important and basic knowledge of discourse analysis, we will concentrate on the cohesive functions of discourse in English reading in this article.  相似文献
