COUNTER Release 5旨在应对不断变化的电子资源,提供可靠、一致和可对比的使用统计数据。文章分析了COUNTER Release 5的规范并探索其在中国高校图书馆数字资源采购联盟(DRAA)中的应用。研究发现,与COUNTER Release 4相比,Release 5有了明显的变化,包括定义了全新的报告体系、统计指标类型、RESTful SUSHI接口等技术细节。为在DRAA中应用COUNTER Release 5,需要从两个方面改进:一是让统计模块兼容COUNTER Release 5的数据模型,使COUNTER Release 5的统计数据可以融入现有的统计模型;二是需要新增RESTful SUSHI接口的客户端及文件解析器,让系统可以获取并解析到COUNTER Release 5的报告。 相似文献

The article presents a survey on usage statistics management in academic libraries in France. The objective is to provide empirical evidence on real methods and processes, best practices and problems experienced by librarians. The survey adapted Baker and Read's methodology to the French context. One‐third of French academic libraries answered the survey. Results show that usage statistics are crucial for librarians' daily work. COUNTER reports are mostly used, specifically the JR1 format. Two‐thirds of the libraries enhance the usage statistics with other data. Librarians face three major difficulties: lack of time, lack of usage data produced by French vendors, and the need for customized tools. The article contains a short literature review and ends with recommendations for further studies. It is the first published survey on usage data management in France and allows for comparison with results from other countries. 相似文献

COUNTER was formally launched in March 2002. Within a year Release 1 of the COUNTER Code of Practice had been published, and a number of leading publishers were working towards making their usage reports COUNTER‐compliant. This article describes the background to COUNTER, the main features of the Code of Practice, the current status of its implementation and the next steps for the project. In September 2010 MPS Limited undertook a short survey of librarians, addressing their use of usage statistics. Over 300 librarians responded. This article covers the findings. 97% of the librarians surveyed use usage statistics in some way. As would be expected, they find COUNTER‐compliant usage statistics invaluable and place their importance above non‐COUNTER‐compliant usage data. They also rely on this information as a major part of the decision‐making process when it comes to purchase and cancellation decisions. 相似文献

In 2005, SUSHI became the latest buzzword in the library community. This article (and this kind of SUSHI) refers to usage data, not raw fish. The growth of online collections has resulted in libraries demanding that publishers provide detailed usage data to allow them to better manage their collections and purchases. The Project COUNTER Code of Practice was created in response to this need; however, it did not address the painstaking task of collection and management of the usage data. SUSHI is a new protocol developed to allow for automated retrieval of COUNTER usage reports from publishers and other content providers. 相似文献

本文通过对比COUNTER第四版与第三版,发现第四版在如下方面具有很多新特征。在文档结构上,使用一个规范代替原来的两个规范;在术语及测量指标方面,新增"金色开放获取"、"多媒体全文内容单元"、"记录浏览"、"结果点击"等术语;在数据元素上,新增数字对象标识符、所有权标识符及机构标识符;在使用报告上,新增开放获取文章的使用统计报告、多媒体资源使用报告及基于移动设备的使用报告,并对原有报告做了不少调整;在审核上,新增对SUSHI协议遵循情况的审核。未来的COUNTER将继续探索与SUSHI的结合应用,探索新的期刊测量指标,增加文章级的使用评价指标。 相似文献

Project Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources (COUNTER) released its first code of practice in 2002. Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) was introduced in 2007 as a way of automating the harvesting of COUNTER reports. Both initiatives have been well adopted yet there is still confusion about how to implement SUSHI. This column offers a primer for library staff wanting to take advantage of the benefits of SUSHI. It starts with a quick review of both COUNTER and SUSHI, then covers options for SUSHI clients, examines SUSHI configuration requirements, demonstrates how to use SUSHI to obtain a COUNTER report and shows an example of working with a COUNTER Journal Reports in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format to create a spreadsheet with a simple cost-per-use and package analysis. By the end the reader should gain enough knowledge to configure a SUSHI client, successfully harvest COUNTER statistics and to perform some basic analysis on that usage. 相似文献

[目的/意义]通过调查研究,探索适合国内图书馆具有可操作性的数字资源使用统计方法,以期提高数据的准确性和可比性,支持数据资源采购、管理与服务。[方法/过程]通过问卷、访谈等方式调查了15家知名的中文数据库商,分析其数字资源使用统计的现状、问题和需求。[结果/结论]发现仅同方知网一家通过COUNTER审核,4家遵循国内相关标准;仅同方知网能提供统计平台和日志信息;但统计功能均不够完善;统计指标不规范;使用统计数据应用广泛,且普遍认为其准确、规范性对于图书馆和数据库商双方均非常重要。为规范中文数据库使用统计,建议推动中文数据库商遵循COUNTER标准,利用SUSHI统一收割使用统计数据,深化统计平台功能。 相似文献

The Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources (COUNTER) Code of Practice and Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) are two standards whose successful adoption will greatly assist librarians in performing accurate and timely usage analysis of their online collections and thus make more informed collection management decisions. Variations in how these standards have been applied by content providers to their SUSHI and COUNTER implementation are currently impacting their widespread adoption. The standards themselves are not broken—what is needed is concise guidelines on their implementation. This column reviews some of the roadblocks that impede consistent implementation of these standards as well as proposes recommendations that could form the basis of a community profile for these standards. 相似文献

Since its inception in 2002, COUNTER has given hope to many librarians charged with collecting usage data for their online collections. This hope turned to optimism in 2007 with the release of SUSHI (Standardized Usage Harvesting Initiative) as a NISO standard (Z39.93). In 2009 release 3 of the COUNTER Code of Practice for Journals and Databases takes effect and with it are some significant advances that will turn hopes and optimism into realities. The purpose of this article is to describe an assessment project of the monograph collection at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Lied Library. The circulation statistics and in-house use of all monographs for the nine colleges at UNLV were assessed analyzing the last five years of data. The analysis included an assessment of the circulation statistics and in-house use of books purchased on an approval plan compared with books purchased by individual liaison librarians. The findings illustrated the fact that overall use of the monograph collection has declined over the past five years. The findings also showed that books purchased on an approval plan had slightly higher use than the books purchased by individual liaisons. The study shows that academic libraries need to monitor usage of the monograph collection to be certain that money is spent in the most efficient manner and that usage data can be helpful if there is a need to reduce budget allocations for monographs or if a reallocation of funds for monographs is necessary. 相似文献

ABSTRACTWeb page views of databases by title and databases by subject pages, in conjunction with COUNTER Database Report 1 and Journal Report 1 statistics, were examined to determine what impact a migration to Primo, a Web-scale discovery layer, had at Central Washington University Brooks Library. The analysis determined that the first year post-migration (2015) compared to the two years pre-migration (2013–14) saw a decline in Web page views of database Web pages, journal full-text article requests, and database record views and result clicks. The implementation of Primo thus had a noticeable negative impact on both direct database access and overall electronic resource usage during the first year post-migration. 相似文献

ABSTRACT This article discusses the National Information Standards Organization's new standard, NISO Z39.7-2004, which includes the reporting of the usage of library-generated Web pages and e-mail, live chat, and instant messaging reference queries. The integration of statistics on these new methods of providing service with traditional library statistics provides a more accurate picture of library services and demonstrates how libraries have expanded types of patron contacts in the digital age. Since its first Code of Practice was published in 2003, setting the first international standard for reporting usage of scholarly content, Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources (COUNTER) has been continually refining the code of practice to meet the evolving needs of its library, publisher, and vendor membership. The latest release of the Code of Practice went into effect in early 2014 and introduced several improvements over the prior releases. Work is now underway on Release 5 of the COUNTER Code of Practice with a promise that it will provide further improvements to better report on usage of scholarly information in an ever-changing discovery and access environment.
