The current societal and professional context presents a variety of ethical challenges to decision makers. The importance of educational preparation for ethical decision-making and ethical leadership has been addressed in the literature of library and information science (LIS), among other professions. However, it can be quite difficult to measure the impact of professional ethics education on students. This article is based on an evaluation of published original research related to ethics education in disciplines supported by professional education, including education, nursing, allied health, journalism, social work, public health, engineering, and LIS. The study considers data related to research design, methodologies used, populations studied, approaches to measuring impact, levels of impact, and publication in the journal literature. Results indicate more extensive research in education and nursing as compared with other fields, a lack of baseline data gathering for comparison, a reliance on a limited number of data-gathering techniques, and a tendency toward studying alumni over current students 相似文献

[目的/意义] 对美国和世界主要发达国家图书馆学教育史研究的代表性成果进行梳理和评述,以了解和掌握国外图书馆学教育史研究关注的问题,为我国图书馆学教育史的研究提供参考和借鉴。[方法/过程] 通过检索国外数据库和网络文献源,筛选出相关主题的核心文献进行研读,以20世纪80年代纪念美国图书馆学教育创建100周年的研究文献为重点,对80年代前后美国图书馆学教育史研究成果进行梳理和分析,同时对世界其他国家的相关研究成果进行简要评述。[结果/结论] 认为国外图书馆学教育史研究体现了明显的"今史观",通过回顾图书馆学教育的历史,思考当今图书馆学教育存在的问题和未来图书馆学教育的发展;在研究中比较重视对史料、史实的搜集和运用;同时主张"大教育史"观,将各种形式的图书馆学教育纳入到图书馆学教育史的研究范围。 相似文献

Nearly 25 years ago, Douglas Zweizig identified limitations in understanding the users of library services and called for improvements in research methodologies. To asses the impact of his critique, citation searches on Zweizig and keyword searches on “user-centered” identified a body of library and information science (LIS) literature that can be linked to the work of Zweizig and his colleague, Brenda Dervin. The characteristics of this literature are described and the philosophical origins of the user-centered approach is critiqued. Zweizig's initial call to incorporate social science methodologies into LIS research is evaluated. A discussion of LIS education in light of the recent Kellogg-ALISE Information Profession and Education Renewal Project study of LIS curricula is included. 相似文献

This article reviews post-1974 scholarly literature on women’s leadership in academic libraries, with the emphasis on the United States. The purpose of this synthesis is to highlight research areas and themes that have significantly expanded the profession’s knowledge about gender and its impact at the top administrative level. The article starts with a brief overview of theories of gender and leadership before tracing scholarship on the gendered career patterns singled out in Schiller’s work (1974). The article then focuses on additional issues related to gender and library administration, including leadership styles, perceptions of differences between male and female leaders, and the lack of diversity among academic library women directors. 相似文献

Objectives: To explore how the library service expectations and perceptions of users might differ across health‐related libraries as against major research libraries not operating in a medical context; to determine whether users of medical libraries demand better library service quality, because the inability of users to access needed literature promptly may lead to a patient who cannot be properly diagnosed, or a diagnosis that cannot be properly treated. Methodology: We compared LibQUAL+® total and subscale scores across three groups of US, Canadian and British libraries for this purpose. Results: Anticipated differences in expectations for health as other library settings did not emerge. Conclusions: The expectations and perceptions are similar across different types of health science library settings, hospital and academic, and across other general research libraries. 相似文献

Most studies on library ethics are theoretical. No scale has been developed with a valid and reliable psychometric property to measure library staff and users' ethical perceptions or behaviors. This paper describes the development of a brief measure of the Library Ethics Scale (LES) conducted in two consecutive studies. In the first study, based on the literature review and opinions of expert groups, 47 items were developed for the item pool. These items were administered to 521 university library users in Turkey. An explanatory factor analysis indicated a strong two-factor solution. In the second study conducted on 259 participants, these two-factor structures showed good psychometric properties, with 18 items explaining the total variance of 59.074. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was 0.903, and the two sub-dimensions were found to be 0.91, and 0.888, respectively. The LES shows good validity and reliability properties and has potential application in library ethics settings, including library professionals' perceptions and users' perceptions and behaviors. 相似文献

[目的/意义]图书馆学发展的数据化势不可挡,探索、发现、掌握和适应其中规律将对图书馆学基础理论研究产生重要影响。[方法/过程]本文使用CiteSpace工具,以近五年国内图书馆学关于数据的文献为研究对象,得出图书馆学发展数据化的三个热点研究领域。采用问卷调查和访谈的方法讨论图书馆学发展数据化的趋势、成因和策略。[结果/结论]图书馆学发展的确存在数据化趋势并且集中在五个方面,呈现四个梯度。在此基础上,发现图书馆信息资源深度开发的需要、量化研究方法对图书馆学研究的影响和图书馆学学科边界的拓展是图书馆学发展数据化的重要成因,并提出应对策略。 相似文献

It highlights the role of LIS professionals in adaptive integration of the concept of “leap-frogging,” in support of the struggle for equal access to information for citizens. Drawing from the literature of developed countries, the paper then focuses on ethical issues to which LIS professionals in developing countries need to be sensitized. It encompasses freedom of information, copyright and privacy of information. This article re-visits a scenario from 1987: a university president required a library director to reclassify some materials into a science classification. The author looks at the prominence of the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association in the general library literature and in classification and cataloging practice literature. The issue of censorship is also discussed. The author then reviews classification for Creationism and Intelligent design and some decision-making processes one could use when deciding on the professional ethics of such a request, concluding that in some cases the ethical action might indeed be to go ahead with the reclassification. 相似文献

[目的/意义]作者主题模型作为近年来计算机领域关注度较高的新型概率模型，在文本挖掘与自然语言处理等方向已有广泛应用。分析国内外作者主题模型及其改进的思路与应用，更好地把握其研究现状，以期为计算机、图书情报等相关领域科研人员提供参考。[方法/过程]本文选取Web of Science核心数据库、DBLP及中国知网（CNKI）数据库作为文献来源，通过制定检索规则、去重及人工判读等操作提炼出关于作者主题模型及其改进方法的文献集，从模型应用过程的视角，结合文献分析法对现有研究进行总结归纳。[结果/结论]通过分析发现，现有相关研究已形成较为完整的分析流程，且模型的改进角度、适用领域也日益多样化。但性能优化、模型评价指标的规范完善以及在图书情报领域的进一步应用等方面仍有待深入探索。 相似文献
