This case study illustrates the issues that arise when a separate “maverick” business unit focusing on developing a new and disruptive innovation is spun off from the parent company. Companies in the high technology manufacturing and development sector have to continually innovate in order to survive and grow in increasingly turbulent and competitive markets. It is common practice for the parent company to spin off separate business units that can incubate and capitalise on the development of new technological innovations in order to grow and create new markets. The case analysis underlines the problems that arise when ICT systems and operational processes are not strategically aligned and imposed by the parent company. It also demonstrates how innovative business units can harness their unique talents and apply them to solving operational problems. By developing a new bespoke system aligned with the maverick unit’s emergent processes, the maverick business unit was pulled back from the brink of disaster to a successful and profitable business unit.  相似文献

The amount of heterogeneous data that is available to organizations nowadays has made information management a seriously complicated task, yet crucial since this data can be a valuable asset for business intelligence. Ontologies can act as a semantically rich knowledge base in systems that specialize in information management. The present work investigates the potential of ontologies in supporting the information lifecycle within a corporate environment for business intelligence. The paper demonstrates the use of Heraclitus II, a framework that employs ontology management and evolution in the context of information management systems. The capabilities of the framework in facilitating information management and business intelligence are evaluated through a real-life case study from the life sciences industry.  相似文献

财务信息是竞争情报的重要信息源之一。财务信息的情报化过程可以分为信息获取、加工整理、解读分析和情报输出4个阶段。通过案例分析,认识到利用财务信息做情报有很大局限性。竞争情报过程实际上是一个学习的过程。这一过程中数据库和软件工具能提高工作效率,但是不能代替人进行分析,只有人才是知识和智慧的载体。  相似文献

企业高层管理团队成员如何通过更好地协作来促进快速高效决策,对整个企业的发展来说至关重要。本研究通过引入国际新兴的建导理论,采用"设计科学研究(Design Science Research)"这一新兴研究方法,针对企业高层管理团队设计了具体的建导式协作决策流程。通过选取国内的一个IT企业,综合使用实验案例和深度访谈法对该决策流程进行验证,从而得出相关结论以及影响因素之间的关联关系。访谈的数据分析结果显示,本文所设计的决策流程能够有效地帮助企业高管团队做出决策,从而提高团队生产力,促进团队达成共识,并起到促进预测的作用。  相似文献

Technology advancements in cloud computing, big data systems, No-SQL database, cognitive systems, deep learning, and other artificial intelligence techniques make the integration of traditional ERP transaction data and big data streaming from various social media platforms and Internet of Things (IOTs) into a unified analytics system not only feasible but also inevitable. Two steps are prominent for this integration. The first, coined as forming the big-data ERP, is the integration of traditional ERP transaction data and the big data and the second is to integrate the big-data ERP with business analytics (BA). As ERP implementers and BA users are facing various challenges, managers responsible for this big-data ERP-BA integration are also seriously challenged. To help them deal with these challenges, we develop the SIST model (including Strategic alignment, Intellectual and Social capital integration, and Technology integration) and propose that this integration is an evolving portfolio with various maturity levels for different business functions, likely leading to sustainable competitive advantages.  相似文献

This case study paper presents four mini-case studies which explore IT service management issues within IT departments. It suggests that there is a shift in focus in IT away from the technical artefacts towards customer directed services. The case studies concern a hospital, a provider of marine charts, a logistics company and the batch operations of a bank. A range of issues are discussed including the provision of customer support, the acquisition of software and services, relationships with suppliers and the development of service strategy. The mini-case study is presented as a vehicle for identifying research issues and for teaching IT service management concepts in short tutorial sessions.  相似文献

The case(s) demonstrates the importance of business process management (BPM) and business intelligence systems (BIS) in achieving better firm performance. It has been well documented in the literature that research on the effectively usage and combination of knowledge from BPM and BIS in turbulent service environments is limited. In response, we conduct an exploratory comparative case study of four firms in banking and telecommunication industries that have implemented BPM initiative and BIS solution. Our results firstly highlight that actual results of applying BPM and BIS differ greatly from the results that were originally planned. Secondly, we find that BIS initiatives are usually driven by improving marketing and sales, while BPM initiatives are driven by improving business processes. Thirdly, we identify that there is a lack of strong commitment to using both systems for supporting performance management.  相似文献

Business intelligence (BI) incorporates business research, data mining, data visualization, data tools,infrastructure, and best practices to help businesses make more data-driven choices.Business intelligence's challenging characteristics include data breaches, difficulty in analyzing different data sources, and poor data quality is consideredessential factors. In this paper, IoT-based Efficient Data Visualization Framework (IoT- EDVF) has been proposed to strengthen leaks' risk, analyze multiple data sources, and data quality management for business intelligence in corporate finance.Corporate analytics management is introduced to enhance the data analysis system's risk, and the complexity of different sources can allow accessing Business Intelligence. Financial risk analysis is implemented to improve data quality management initiative helps use main metrics of success, which are essential to the individual needs and objectives. The statistical outcomes of the simulation analysis show the increasedperformance with a lower delay response of 5ms and improved revenue analysis with the improvement of 29.42% over existing models proving the proposed framework's reliability.  相似文献

如何实现可持续商业模式创新一直是理论和实践的双重难题,企业社会责任嵌入商业模式创新被认为是一条可行路径。但现有研究对“企业社会责任是如何嵌入以及怎样影响商业模式创新的”等问题仍然知之甚少。本研究通过对万达集团文旅业务的纵向案例分析,揭示了企业社会责任嵌入商业模式创新的机理。首先,企业社会责任嵌入是一个“从边缘议题到核心议题、从传统慈善观到创造共享价值理念”的过程;其次,本文揭示了企业社会责任嵌入、企业生存危机和商业模式创新之间的复杂机理。商业模式创新伊始并不必然需要企业社会责任介入,但会激发企业社会责任萌芽,为企业社会责任嵌入提供必要前提。企业生存危机是企业社会责任嵌入商业模式创新的触发器;最后,本文回答了企业社会责任嵌入对商业模式创新的影响。企业社会责任嵌入提高了商业模式的稳健性,是企业在企业生存危机下重塑商业模式的重要途径。研究发现解释了企业社会责任嵌入的内涵,揭示了企业社会责任嵌入商业模式创新的过程黑箱,回答了企业社会责任与商业模式创新相互循环促进的复杂嵌入机理,为相关研究议题提供了结构性理论假设,有助于更多企业通过企业社会责任嵌入实现可持续商业模式创新。  相似文献

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a very important growing business practice in today's environment. It is used for managing the interaction between a company and its future and current customers. CRM approach's task is analyzing data about the history of customers with a company. It focuses on a way to retain customers, therefore it helps the growth of sales. This leads to improvement of company's business relationship with customers. Current study's goal is to determine how technology, organizational capability, customer orientation, and customer knowledge management influence CRM success. We try to see that how the performance of an organization is affected by the achievement of CRM. For testing the hypotheses, Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was adopted. Results have indicated that the success of CRM is highly influenced through “information technology use”, also “customer orientation”, “organizational capability”, and “customer knowledge management” are related to CRM success. Finally, along with the future research avenues and limitations, study implications and findings are discussed.  相似文献

This article explores the application of Agile methodologies and principles to business intelligence delivery and how Agile has changed with the evolution of business intelligence. Business intelligence has evolved because the amount of data generated through the internet and smart devices has grown exponentially altering how organizations and individuals use information. The practice of business intelligence delivery with an Agile methodology has matured; however, business intelligence has evolved altering the use of Agile principles and practices. The Big Data phenomenon, the volume, variety, and velocity of data, has impacted business intelligence and the use of information. New trends such as fast analytics and data science have emerged as part of business intelligence. This paper reviews the application of computer-based information systems for manufacturing, which has found a lack of strategic orientation. Critical factors for a strategic-oriented information system, i.e. external information scanning, data refining and information reporting, are discussed. A strategic-oriented system model that incorporates information scanning-refining-reporting into manufacturing automation and control systems is proposed. A case study of a corporate strategic information processing system in a UK company is explored. Limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are made.  相似文献
