创客空间服务推动着图书馆的人力资源重组与变革,激励馆员积极面对变革、参与变革。文章通过馆员访谈,运用扎根方法从馆员需求的视角构建出馆员参与创客空间转型服务激励机制,运用因子分析法对激励机制的有效性进行了验证与完善。文章得出以下结论:馆员正向激励包括工作条件与环境、服务能力建设、参与动机强化、馆员获得感知4个维度;该激励机制对于增强馆员参与转型服务意愿具有较好的针对性和实用性。  相似文献

Abstract

Despite the competing roles that contemporary public and school librarians juggle, advocating for youth literacy remains a priority. Both school and public librarians can support parents by providing the most current research insights to inform their approach to supporting reading in the home. Quantitative survey data from the 997 young participants illuminate the relationships between reading frequency, gender and parental encouragement. Semi-structured interviews explore the kinds of parental encouragement children perceived, allowing for an exploratory investigation to yield novel findings. While encouragement is generally being focused on the children who need it, girls receive more encouragement to read than boys even though they typically read more frequently. Reading encouragement was perceived to be related to varying parental objectives, such as valuing literacy skills and learning benefits, screen respite, providing access, shared reading, and establishing expectations, with children cognizant of parental hypocrisy in relation to low modeling. As literacy advocates, librarians can communicate that boys need to receive greater parental encouragement, encouragement may need to be high-quality to be effective, and parental modeling remains important.  相似文献

This article argues that information literacy instruction has a unique role to play in increasing academic motivation among African-American college students. Drawing on recent work in student motivation, this article argues that perception of faculty encouragement is the single most important predictor of African-American college students' academic self-concept, trumping both academic performance (e.g., grades) and school environment (i.e., historically Black colleges or universities vs. predominantly White colleges or universities). Given this link between encouragement and academic self-concept, information literacy instruction becomes an arena in which librarians may support the development of students' self-concept, thus increasing motivation. This article discusses the role of encouragement in information literacy instruction and suggests how to achieve greater perception of encouragement both during and after instruction. Lastly, this article considers ramifications for instructional services programs at historically Black colleges or universities by reviewing recent experiences at Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina.  相似文献

Summary

Much has been written about the reference librarian's relationship to the client, but very little has been written about his relationship with fellow reference librarians. In addition to having an ethical obligation to treat colleagues with courtesy and respect, reference librarians must be able to interact effectively with one another in order to provide an optimal level of service to their clients. A well-functioning reference unit builds on the individual strengths of each reference librarian and promotes an environment conducive to consultation and sharing. Provision of consistently excellent service is more easily achievable when each member of the unit feels that her individual contribution is valuable, that each is treated fairly, receives due credit, is secure enough to consult with a colleague with the expectation of receiving help, and is also secure enough to willingly provide such help. The tone for setting such an atmosphere is largely dependent upon the actions of the head of the unit who must set an example of fairness, cooperation, and striving for excellence while providing encouragement to update skills. Collegiality generated in this work environment further boosts productivity and enhances working conditions.  相似文献

图书馆员职业化经历了至少两百年的时间.本文针对近年出现的图书馆员去职业化的理论思潮与现象,阐述了去职业化的概念,对英国、美国、日本以及中国的图书馆员去职业化现象进行了描述.研究发现,图书馆员去职业化虽然有利于提高图书馆的工作效率,但也可能带来图书馆核心竞争力丧失、图书馆职业被淡化等问题.图书馆员去职业化主要是由图书馆的财政压力、网络环境的冲击、现有制度的制约以及专业教育与实际工作需要脱节等原因造成.提出建立职业资格认证制度、营造图书馆员终身学习环境、慎重对待核心业务外包、变革图书馆学专业教育等防止图书馆员去职业化的对策.图6.参考文献70.  相似文献

Libraries have always been places where individuals feel free to explore new ideas and seek out information in the pursuit of creative and intellectual growth. Fear of exposure or surveillance could threaten an individual's inclination to search for and access information. Understandably then, privacy is understood to be a core professional responsibility of librarians. This study builds on a national report and a qualitative study, completed in the United States, which explored librarians' attitudes on privacy. Adding a Canadian voice to the literature, this study examines survey results from academic librarians in Canada on their perceptions and attitudes related to library practices and online privacy behaviors. Overall, Canadian academic librarians believe that protecting patron privacy and educating patrons about issues related to online privacy is important. However, many Canadian academic librarians doubt that libraries are doing all they can to protect patron privacy. Academic librarians stand to gain knowledge and understanding of peer attitudes toward online privacy, as well as how patron privacy is being advocated for and protected on university campuses across Canada. The results will guide future library policies and programming aimed at creating an environment where privacy rights are protected and patrons can make informed choices about their online actions.  相似文献
