Developing research capacity in health librarians: a review of the evidence   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
This critical review considers current issues of research capacity development in UK health care and the role of health librarianship in this context, placing particular focus on the use of research networks. There is a growing literature base recognising the need for librarians to engage more with research. The concepts of evidence-based health librarianship and clinical librarianship are discussed in the context of research and examples of existing good practice are reviewed. It is suggested that librarians should build on this through better consideration of evidence based methodologies, hierarchies of evidence, improvement of research skills, and a collective endeavour to identify research priorities. The importance research capacity is being given in the Department of Health R&D strategy and the use of networks in achieving this is discussed, and it is suggested that the utilisation of networks and collaboration should be undertaken and explored in more depth in developing research capacity in health librarianship. Areas where librarians currently engage with research and use networks and collaborative practices to contribute to the research base are reviewed. A co-ordinated approach to developing research capacity is called for and it is argued that the use of networks would be beneficial in assisting the process.  相似文献

A collaborative Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) course, co-taught by medical and library faculty, targets the needs of health care and information professionals involved in teaching and practicing EBM by introducing concepts, methods and tools of the EBM process. The one-week course engages working teams of health care and information professionals in case-based activities to encourage participation in the learning process and the "Train the Trainer" approach of the course. The interdisciplinary partnership, both of teachers and learners, has led to a successful and effective educational program that accentuates the strengths and contributions of each group. Further research will determine whether this collaborative experience leads to ongoing partnerships between these professional groups in the clinical setting.  相似文献

在系统调研跨地域科研协作现状基础上,本研究提出跨地域科研协作模式分析框架,以信息搜寻与信息检索融合(IS&R)等为测试主题,构建跨地域科研协作网络;计算无向加权科研协作网络节点中心性,发现各主题研究热点国家、城市和机构;模拟有向加权科研协作网络连接强度,描绘科研协作关系中知识流动方向;识别科研协作过程中节点角色,发掘城市科研协作主流模式;通过QAP分析,测度地理距离对节点间科研协作强度的影响,剖析节点科研实力与节点间科研协作强度的相关关系;借助演化分析,厘清科研协作网络发展历程及节点角色迁移情况。结果显示,上述主题在跨地域科研协作过程中既存在共性的节点分布、网络连接和扩展模式,又表现出一定的学科差异。图5。表11。参考文献23。  相似文献

As scientific collaboration has become more common with increased representation of female scholars, the effects of inter-gender collaboration have attracted more attention. However, scholars have not reached a consensus on the relationship between inter-gender collaboration and research performance. Empirical evidence at the scholar level has also been rare. Therefore, based on the ratio of the opposite sex in collaboration partners, this study reveals the influence of participating in inter-gender collaborations on research performance for scholars. Grouped regression was employed to test gender differences in this effect. The effect of partners’ academic levels was also investigated to account for potential gender differences. The results indicated that inter-gender collaboration had a positive effect on research performance for scholars. Grouped regressions also showed that collaborating with more inter-gender partners exerted a significantly negative effect on the research performance of female scholars, while it had a positive effect for male scholars. The negative effect on female scholars were found to be strengthened if the partners were at a high academic level. This study is helpful to understand inter-gender collaboration in depth, and further reveals the gender differences in scientific collaboration.  相似文献

It is widely recognized that interdisciplinary collaboration in science is crucial to the success of the research endeavor, but that long‐established institutional structures based on a firm division of the disciplines tend to make such teamwork difficult to achieve in practice. 科研合作是促进科学生产的一种重要形式,探讨不同机构之间的科研论文合著情况,可以有效把握机构合作的整体现状与特征,有助于提高机构合作的绩效。本研究基于2010-2015 年Web of Science 数据库图书情报学领域期刊发表的论文,构建我国图书情报学领域Top15 高产研究机构的合作网络,综合运用文献合著率、合作多样性、合作稳定度、合作绩效等度量指标,分析了机构合作的主要特征及指标间的相互影响。研究发现:我国图书情报学领域的论文数量总体上呈现增长趋势但论文影响力相对有限,香港地区的科研机构在国际上学术认可度领先于大陆地区的科研机构;科研机构间的合作对象不断拓宽、合作密度不断加强、合作论文产出不断提升成为我国近年来图书情报学领域发展的显著特征;国际化的合作团队、多元的合作对象和稳定的合作关系可以为科研机构带来更多的科研成果产出,提高其学术影响力。  相似文献

[目的/意义]科研合作是不同科研主体之间围绕特定科学问题开展研究的协同研究工作,以实现科研主体间的优势互补。国际科研合作对促进科研绩效具有重要意义。了解当前国际科研合作对科研绩效影响研究的现状,为未来进一步开展该方面的研究提供参考和借鉴。[方法/过程]论文在界定国际科研合作、科研绩效两个重要概念的基础上,从研究层次、分析指标、分析方法3个维度对国际科研合作对科研绩效影响研究的论文进行梳理。[结果/结论]分析发现,目前该研究领域成果丰富,国内外学者主要从宏观(国家、地区或区域等)、中观(领域或机构、团队等)、微观(科研人员个体)3个层面,通过简单计数类和单一比值类国际科研合作指标以及科研产出数量类、科研产出质量类和h指标类科研绩效指标,采用文献计量学方法、社会网络分析方法及统计学分析的方法对国际科研合作对科研绩效的影响进行探析。未来需加强:科学家层面的研究,拓宽更多科研合作行为的分析;表征科研合作和科研绩效综合类指标的探索;针对性分析模型的创建,并对一些具有重要意义的变量进行控制。  相似文献

[目的/意义]馆员多样性和团队合作是美国ClimateQUALTM组织氛围测评中的两个重要指标,但二者的关系还没有被详尽研究。本文利用近10年南京农业大学图书馆科研合作数据,深度分析馆员合作中所体现的馆员多样性,为进一步了解图书馆组织氛围的相关特征提供依据。[方法/过程]利用馆员及其年龄、职称、学历、学科背景、岗位等馆员属性信息,将这些馆员划分成不同的类别,计算辛普森指数(simpson)和熵值(entropy),并依此来测度科研合作中的馆员多样性,绘制合作结构图来显示科研合作的状态。[结果/结论]将馆员个体作为多样性计算中的类别,辛普森指数为0.994,熵值为0.6。按馆员年龄、职称、学历、学科背景、岗位等属性划分类别,辛普森指数处于0.82-0.997之间,熵值处于0.59-0.89之间,高辛普森指数和高熵值表明不同层次的馆员都参与了科学合作,但合作不是很集中。对一定合作强度所形成的网络结构的分析也发现,合作还处于相对比较松散的状态,没有形成固定的合作团队。高学历和高职称馆员是图书馆科研产出的重要力量,虽然馆员学科背景广泛,但图情学科背景仍是南京农业大学图书馆科研产出的重要因素。  相似文献

[目的/意义] 鉴于异质网络能够揭示数据的多重关系,引入合作网络,构建2-模异质网络,并基于此异质网络,进行作者潜在合作空间的测度与识别,增加作者间合作机会,促进学科知识的交流与融合提供参考。[方法/过程] 以2004-2013年间的图书情报学核心期刊论文为研究对象,定义作者-作者-关键词2模异质网络,挖掘网络中的多重关系;定义潜在合作空间的相关概念及测度公式,并运用共现分析、耦合分析及编译VBA, 程序,对2-模异质网络的作者潜在合作空间进行测度与识别。[结果/结论] 发现图书情报学领域的47位核心潜在合作者;某一研究主题的作者潜在合作空间相同或相近,重叠部分形成了该研究领域的潜在合作团队,这一发现为研究人员寻求潜在合作者提供了便利条件。  相似文献

An increased interest in studying the nature of communication in health care and the use of interpreters has revealed the need for more collaboration and understanding of multilingual health-care practices. Theory and practice concerning cross-cultural health-care communication can benefit from examining the intersections between translingual literacy and transnational programs through hybrid interpretive strategies. In this study, I argue that these strategies move across, between, and among different languages, dialects, and nonverbal gestures to develop mutual understanding. To account for literacy practices that might engage this hybridity in health care, I use grounded practical theory to analyze a case study of participants who ran temporary medical and dental clinics in the Dominican Republic. This analysis finds that hybrid strategies with English–Spanish and Spanish–Spanish interpretation are used to overcome problems with balancing efficiency and rapport-building. By integrating ethnographic methods and grounded practical theory, this study's practical implications emerge in the negotiations of language employed by participants to connect translingual theory and practice in health-care communication.  相似文献

This paper outlines the inter‐professional collaboration of the authors, a PhD student, his supervisor and an information professional, to systematically search the literature for an ill‐defined concept. The research question posed for the scoping literature review indicated that the topic, the subjective socio‐economic status and health of adults with intellectual disabilities, was rare. The need for a methodological search process was therefore identified and successfully carried out. The paper presents an analysis of the processes and the collaboration involved in developing a successful search strategy. The resulting transformative learning by the researcher of the professional practice of the information specialist illuminates their facilitating and supportive role in advancing health related research. The integration of librarians into allied health programs presents many exciting opportunities for collaboration. This column will describe how a library instruction program is integrated into the occupational therapy, respiratory care, and physical therapy curricula at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Objective

This study investigated responsibilities, skill sets, degrees, and certifications required of health care navigators in order to identify areas of potential overlap with health sciences librarianship.

Method

The authors conducted a content analysis of health care navigator position announcements and developed and assigned forty-eight category terms to represent the sample''s responsibilities and skill sets.

Results

Coordination of patient care and a bachelor''s degree were the most common responsibility and degree requirements, respectively. Results also suggest that managing and providing health information resources is an area of overlap between health care navigators and health sciences librarians, and that librarians are well suited to serve on navigation teams.

Conclusion

Such overlap may provide an avenue for collaboration between navigators and health sciences librarians.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to investigate the use of online data and time series analysis, in order to study the dynamics of new types of research collaboration in a systematic way. Two international research teams were studied for more than 3 years, and quantitative data about their internet use together with observation of their collaboration patterns were gathered. Time series analysis (ARIMA modelling) was performed on their use of internet, and specific types of models related to specific ways of conducting research at a distance. The paper proposes the use of online data and ARIMA models to identify the stabilisation of a complex system, such as a research team, and investigate everyday research practices.  相似文献

This study assesses whether eleven factors associate with higher impact research: individual, institutional and international collaboration; journal and reference impacts; abstract readability; reference and keyword totals; paper, abstract and title lengths. Authors may have some control over these factors and hence this information may help them to conduct and publish higher impact research. These factors have been previously researched but with partially conflicting findings. A simultaneous assessment of these eleven factors for Biology and Biochemistry, Chemistry and Social Sciences used a single negative binomial-logit hurdle model estimating the percentage change in the mean citation counts per unit of increase or decrease in the predictor variables. The journal Impact Factor was found to significantly associate with increased citations in all three areas. The impact and the number of cited references and their average citation impact also significantly associate with higher article citation impact. Individual and international teamwork give a citation advantage in Biology and Biochemistry and Chemistry but inter-institutional teamwork is not important in any of the three subject areas. Abstract readability is also not significant or of no practical significance. Among the article size features, abstract length significantly associates with increased citations but the number of keywords, title length and paper length are insignificant or of no practical significance. In summary, at least some aspects of collaboration, journal and document properties significantly associate with higher citations. The results provide new and particularly strong statistical evidence that the authors should consider publishing in high impact journals, ensure that they do not omit relevant references, engage in the widest possible team working, when appropriate, and write extensive abstracts. A new finding is that whilst is seems to be useful to collaborate and to collaborate internationally, there seems to be no particular need to collaborate with other institutions within the same country.  相似文献

Teamwork and communication are essential to effective work groups in health care. This project investigated how an impending technology change spurred the staff in an ophthalmological surgical department to improve their teamwork and communication processes. Data were gathered using focus groups, key informant interviews, and workplace observations involving 56 employees. Qualitative, interpretive analysis indicated that lack of communication impacted team processes and job satisfaction. Participants indicated that sharing knowledge and developing policy knowledge were problematic, especially as those processes concerned job duties. Results were interpreted using structurating activity theory. Analysis identified system-level and structural-level contradictions that hindered activity accomplishment. Several practical implications of findings are offered, including using the experience of work team contradictions as opportunities to transform practices, implementing ongoing inter-professional training for work teams, and providing opportunities for work team members to be reflective about their team experiences. This paper is based on Rachel Butler's dissertation carried out at the University of Sheffield as part of the MA Library and Information Services Management. The study examines people's online health information seeking skills, with the specific aim to identify how libraries and health services can work together in supporting digital and health literacy. A survey approach is used to explore online searching habits as well as librarian and health professionals’ views on health literacy. The key findings indicate that whilst the majority of respondents consider themselves to be health literate, there was an overall agreement that effective education and support could be achieved through the collaboration between libraries and health services, and specifically to signpost information and to provide targeted education. The limitations of the research for dissertation are recognised leading to recommendations that further study focuses on the impact of signposting and education on health literacy.F.J.  相似文献
