ABSTRACT In June 1995 the ABEI (Italian Catholic Librarians Association) established a working group in order to create an authority list of Catholic authors (persons and corporate bodies) and of liturgical and religious anonymous works, titled ACOLIT, Autori Cattolici e Opere Liturgiche in Italiano (Catholic Authors and Liturgical Works in Italian). ACOLIT contents: (1) personal authors (particularly of apostolic period and Middle Ages); (2) popes and anti-popes; (3) religious congregations, orders and societies; (4) Catholic Church and Roman Curia; (5) Catholic associations; (6) Bible; (7) liturgical works; (8) religious anonymous works. Headings are established according to the RICA (Regole Italiane di Catalogazione per Autori), but also to the Norme per il catalogo degli stampati by the Vatican Library, the AACR2R, the RAK, the Reglas de catalogaci = F3n. Ed. refundita y rev., and the guidelines and decisions of IFLA. The work group has elaborated original considerations, particularly for the Bible. The group argues the choice and form of the names of popes, Catholic Church and Roman Curia of the RICA and suggests that classical and Medieval writers should be formulated in Italian not in Latin and that the indirect form, surname-name, should be used for saints who have a surname. ACOLIT has accepted the GARE punctuation (Guidelines for authority and reference entries/recommended by the Working Group on an International Authority System; approved by the Standing Committees of the IFLA Section on Cataloguing and the IFLA Section on Information Technology). The print edition is planned for June 1997. ACOLIT will present headings in three sections: (1) Personal writers; (2) Corporate bodies; (3) Bible, Liturgical and religious anonymous works, ABEI will also publish an electronic edition (CD ROM), periodically revised. Catalogers at The Ohio State University (OSU) Libraries, Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML), and Cleveland Public Library (CPL) are collaborating through the Ohio Name Authority Cooperative (NACO) funnel to create personal name authority records that directly benefit library patrons. Although OSU provides training and review, all three libraries receive value from the collaboration. There have been obstacles, however, such as cataloging training and workflow differences between public and academic libraries. This article will discuss the challenges and benefits of this inter-library cataloger collaboration from the point of view of all three libraries, plans for the future, and best practices for other libraries that are interested in public/academic library collaborations of this kind. 相似文献

AbstractThe researchers extracted a disproportionate stratified random sample from 40?years of thesis bibliographic records at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Match rates for thesis authors in the LC/NACO Name Authority File and in Canadiana Authorities were examined. ProQuest digitization of older theses, the creation of an institutional repository, the move to electronic theses and dissertations in 2011, and the implementation of vendor-assisted authority control in 2017 impacted bibliographic records. In addition to the dearth of matches in general, results uncovered false matches and significant changes to Library and Archives Canada thesis authority control practices over the years. 相似文献

AbstractCanadian participation in the Program for Cooperative Cataloging began in 1998 when Memorial University of Newfoundland joined NACO to counter the lack of locally relevant authority data. Different circumstances operated for each of the early adopters. McGill University joined SACO first, in 1999, and NACO only in 2009. Concordia University joined NACO in 2011. Other libraries joined forces through the Canada Funnel, established in 2005. Since 2015, the number of independent members has grown, and more Canadians have begun participating in the governance and working groups of the PCC. This coincides with increased interest in internationalization within the PCC itself. 相似文献
