利玛窦在华传教期间,一直非常重视翻译《几何原本》的工作。1606—1607年,利玛窦与徐光启合作将《几何原本》译成中文。虽然作为一名耶稣会传教士,利玛窦只是把介绍西方文明作为弘扬基督教的手段,《几何原本》也仅译出前六卷,但对中国近代科学以及中国思想文化的发展产生极其深远的影响,在中国科学发展史上具有划时代的意义。 相似文献

众所周知，《几何原本》是古代西方数学的经典之作，它对于世界数学的发展影响巨大。明朝末年，利玛窦将《几何原本》带人中国，稍后其与徐光启合作将它翻译成了中文。可是，他们只是翻译了前六卷，后面还有九卷没有翻译。据载，当时徐光启是积极要求翻译完毕的，可是利玛窦拒绝了。什么原因呢?两个人都没有详细说明，因此，这成了一个令人费解的问题。 相似文献

1900年以前,西方数学传入我国,都是以外国传教士为媒介。他们来中国传教,同时也带来一批西方的科技书籍进行传播。例如17世纪初,意大利耶稣会教士利玛窦来中国时,与徐光启(1562～1633)合译了《几何原本》前六卷。19世纪中叶,清代数学家李善兰(1811～1882)与英国传教士伟烈亚力合作,完成了《几何原本》后九卷的翻译工作,还翻译了《代数学》十三卷、《代微积拾级》十八卷等多部。此后,清代数学家华蘅芳(1833～1902)与英国传教士傅兰雅合译《代数术》二十五卷、《微积溯源》八卷、《决疑数学》十卷,等等。徐光启、李善兰、华蘅芳等翻译引进西方数学的共同点:一是他们都没有出国,而是由外国人将西方数学书籍带进来,在我国进行翻译;二是他们都基本上不通外文,但这些外国人却懂汉语,所以由外国人口译,中国人笔录、整理成书。因此,这种引进是被动的,局限性很大,发展也缓慢。 相似文献

明万历34年(公元1606年)秋天,在北京的一所宫殿式房子里,意大利耶稣会传教士利玛窦(Matteo Ricci,1552—1610年)与明代科学家徐光启正在合作翻译一本欧洲古典数学名著,这就是古希腊文明时代大数学家欧几里德的《几何原本》。这本书由利玛窦口译,徐光启笔录,于第二年春天译成前6卷出版。这是中国第一次翻译西方科学专著,它标志着西方科学知识在中国传播的开端。不仅如此,这件事还给此后中国数学学科的发展带来了很大影响。要理解这一点,首先得了解《几何原本》究竟是怎样一部书。 相似文献

明代杰出数学家、珠算宗师程大位撰写与刊行的《算法统宗》十七卷，集16、17世纪数学之大成，并传入日本、东南亚及欧洲，对于中国古代数学，特别是中国珠算推向世界作出了重要贡献。近年，中国科学院数学研究所和作者先后发现了明版程氏《算法统宗》十二卷本各一部。为此，作者对程氏《算法统宗》作了认真地考证，发现“十二卷本”是“崇文堂”刻书坊的盗版本。它以“十七卷本”为兰本，内容与十七卷本完全相同，只是改变了分卷和分册的数目而已。鉴于它是四百年来新发现的惟一的明代改编本．在版本学上仍然具有重要的学术价值和珍藏价值． 相似文献
