ABSTRACTWhile Facebook is an important distribution channel for today's media houses, there is a lack of research on how news outlets choose to present their stories in social media. The present study aims to narrow this gap by analysing two weeks of Facebook updates by the Norwegian tabloid Dagbladet and the public-service broadcaster NRK and comparing them to the corresponding stories on their news sites. An important objective is to uncover if and how the Facebook updates depart from established text norms for online papers. The method is triangulated. A quantitative content analysis reveals that newsrooms tend to utilize a wider range of speech acts when writing presentations specifically for Facebook. A follow-up qualitative analysis identifies five rhetorical strategies for unique promo texts on Facebook: adding emojis, posing questions, making requests, expressing emotions and stating subjective points of view. Qualitative interviews with responsible journalists confirm that these strategies are more common the less controversial the stories are. However, the newsrooms have few explicit guidelines for when it is acceptable to transgress traditional journalistic text norms. The findings are summarized in a model that connects the continuum of decreasing story controversy to a corresponding continuum of increasingly interpretative and subjective rhetoric. 相似文献

Abstract The Canadian National Site Licensing Project (CNSLP) is a national effort by a consortium of 64 Canadian university libraries to provide access to full text electronic journals. The first part of this paper describes the organization, funding structure, and activities, including license negotiations, of the CNSLP. The second part of this paper deals with the technical and operational issues related to electronic journal management. It describes the process developed at the University of Saskatchewan for incorporating the CNSLP material into the Library's collections and finding tools. An assessment of the jake utility as a reliable source of metadata is also presented. 相似文献

Summary The level of activity among libraries and publishers in Scandinavia with regard to electronic journals is relatively low. However, the interest in and discussions of this subject are widespread and it is on almost everybody's agenda. Some electronic journals are considered, including the Nordic Journal of Philosophical Logicand several pilot projects are also presented and discussed. There are considerably more initiatives in the international arena, and one important conclusion is that the development of electronic versions of scientific journals makes the world “smaller,” that is, it is less difficult for the regional publisher to reach the international community of scientists. Many of the challenges that publishers face in the world of e-journals are considered, including copyright, fair use, one-stop-shopping, access control, printing, pricing and licensing. The traditional system of scholarly communication has emerged over a period of hundreds of years and is now well-established regionally as well as internationally. This article attempts to identify whether there are specific characteristics with regard to new ways of disseminating scientific results in the Scandinavian region, and looks into practical experiences from the development of electronic journals. 相似文献

[目的/意义]超声检查是判断患者病情的重要依据，目前主要检查数据是以文本形式存在。本文提出一种基于超声检查数据的文本结构化和知识网络构建方法，为进一步挖掘临床知识奠定数据基础。[方法/过程]对自然语言处理技术在超声文本环境下的应用进行改进，包括分词处理、内容定位、结构化识别三个主要步骤，实现对超声文本的切分与标记，并且在此基础上建立其结构化知识网络。[结果/结论]真实数据测试结果显示，本文提出的面向超声检查文本的结构化方法具有较好的性能表现。该方法可以实现对批量超声文本结构化网络的自动构建，能够反映超声文本中结构化内容的层次关系与属性结构等潜在知识。 相似文献

Variants of Huffman codes where words are taken as the source symbols are currently the most attractive choices to compress
natural language text databases. In particular, Tagged Huffman Code by Moura et al. offers fast direct searching on the compressed
text and random access capabilities, in exchange for producing around 11% larger compressed files. This work describes End-Tagged
Dense Code and (s, c)-Dense Code, two new semistatic statistical methods for compressing natural language texts. These techniques permit simpler
and faster encoding and obtain better compression ratios than Tagged Huffman Code, while maintaining its fast direct search
and random access capabilities. We show that Dense Codes improve Tagged Huffman Code compression ratio by about 10%, reaching
only 0.6% overhead over the optimal Huffman compression ratio. Being simpler, Dense Codes are generated 45% to 60% faster
than Huffman codes. This makes Dense Codes a very attractive alternative to Huffman code variants for various reasons: they
are simpler to program, faster to build, of almost optimal size, and as fast and easy to search as the best Huffman variants,
which are not so close to the optimal size.

在文本分类的实际应用中经常使用粗略分类的数据来训练分类器,但是这种数据中经常会包含类别标记有误的数据,这些数据对文本分类结果的精度会造成不良影响。本文针对这个问题提出了一种噪声修正算法,首先建立文档关联网络,把文档上标记的类别作为在网络上划分的集团结构,并用模块度衡量集团结构的质量,通过优化模块度指标把噪声数据调整到合适的类别中,从而提高数据质量。实验结果表明,本文所提算法能够有效修正粗分类数据中的噪声,且有较高的有效性和鲁棒性。该算法可以用于文本分类训练数据的预处理,或作为辅助技术用于文献库建设等工作。 相似文献

Summary The objective of this article is to examine some of the valuable philosophical resources available on the Internet, especially for librarians who need to determine what resources to provide to faculty, students, and staff. Some main uses of the Internet for philosophical research are: accessing texts, using search strategies to examine the texts, reading and writing electronic journal articles, accessing information from encyclopedias and dictionaries, browsing through paths of interlinked Web sites, searching the Internet for sources, and participating in online discussion forums. This article examines the Internet as a source of primary and secondary texts, journal literature, research databases, reference works, specialized limited area search engines, organizational information, and discussion lists. ABSTRACT Rather than create a collection solely to support distance learners, libraries should consider the needs of all customers when developing a digital library. The acceptance of digital libraries is dependant upon the conversion of resources to an electronic format that is easy to use and is fully searchable. While electronic journals are widely accepted by most academic library customers, the delivery of online books has had a very different acceptance rate. Rather than support the sequential reading of books, electronic books are commonly used to find information and can be particularly well-suited for reference purposes. ABSTRACT A case study of a large urban academic library with an established electronic reserve system and copyright management database was attempted in order to analyze restrictions in publishers' electronic reserve copyright policies. The researcher proposed that publishers' electronic reserve copyright policies and the treatment of copyright permission requests restrict what and how much can be made available to students on an electronic reserve system. Background research on fair use, copyright laws, and library and publisher policies and positions on electronic reserve copyright issues is presented. The research methodology is outlined and analysis tools are explained. The results of the study and suggestions for future research are discussed. Summary The evolution of electronic sources has had a significant impact on reference collections in libraries, and public library reference collections are no exception. Abstract The Library's Circulation Department at Colorado State University-Pueblo began using Docutek's ERes system on a limited basis during fall semester 2002. The nuts and bolts of implementing the ERes system were relatively simple compared to the challenge of revising our reserves policy to accommodate electronic reserves. Effective handling of customer complaints is obviously in the consumers’ interest, but analysis of the letters can also provide valuable information to the organization. Organizations can use customer complaints as a way of recording organizational information and tracking effectiveness of their consumer relationship management. In this paper, we argue that organizations should adopt the use of semantic network analysis as an efficient and effective means to track complaints ‐ and what customers are complaining about ‐ over time. We present an example of the use of semantic network analysis with the complete texts of all complaint letters sent to an organization during a one‐year period. The semantic network analysis of the text of the complaint letters identifies the central concerns of this customer group and suggests that the organization address these issues. Through the use of semantic network analysis, an organization can uncover trends and provide support for decision‐making regarding customer relationship management issues. 相似文献
