Abstract Governmental, non-profit, and commercial organizations are putting a variety of materials online which provide access to information previously published in print, or on stand-alone fee-based databases. Although it is still difficult to locate information efficiently on the Internet, access to relevant materials has been improved by subject-organized online indexes of resources. These indexes take some of the chaos out of locating relevant materials. Rapid growth in online in electronic publishing combined with access to resources via organized indexes to online information make the Internet useful to reference librarians and educators. This article lists some of the resources and access points for information relevant to educators and librarians. 相似文献

电子资源和纸本资源如何协调发展巳成为图书馆文献资源建设亟待解决的重要问题.从目前资源购置经费和读者的使用情况来看,电子资源的比重都要大于纸本资源,而纸本资源也正在向电子资源转化.但是电子资源存在着重复性、不稳定性、垄断性以及不易长期保存的缺陷,影响着馆藏建设.因此,电子资源与纸本资源的协调发展,应遵守目标性、互补性、满足需求、重点保障和成本效益的基本原则,不断调整馆藏发展政策,使馆藏评价制度化,有机整合电子资源与纸本资源,构建与出版商合作的新模式,建立区域联合馆藏,走共建共享之路. 相似文献

AbstractBecause of the global COVID-19 pandemic during the spring of 2020, colleges and universities found themselves rapidly moving all courses to online modalities, a format that many instructors were not experienced in or comfortable with. Academic librarians were called upon to help support faculty in this sudden transition, as well as migrating their own library services and instruction online. For many, it felt like a mad scramble to find best practices for online teaching, or even just “good-enough” practices, as well as specific tools that instructional faculty and librarians could utilize to keep their students engaged and learning during such a trying time. At the time of this writing, some universities have announced that they will continue to hold most, if not all, courses online in the fall 2020 term. Resources to support online teaching are critical now, and they will continue to be important going forward even after the global pandemic subsides. The reviews in this column cover a variety of online instructional tools and instructional support sites. The resources reviewed range from providing best practices for online pedagogy, creating engaging formative assessment tools, developing video discussion boards, creating interactive images, using virtual bulletin boards for student collaboration, and ensuring online content meets accessibility requirements. Summary The Internet opens a wide range of possibilities for accessing materials from both traditional sources and more volatile areas-personal homepages, e-mail and discussion groups archives. Though the role of reference librarians to find the most relevant information for our users seems monumental in this medium, it is an area that needs the objective, ethical expertise of the librarian and archivist. In this 50th year of remembrance of the Holocaust, the Internet is especially active with information on that historic tragedy. Excerpts from accounts by one Hungarian and one Norwegian political prisoner interned in the camps are included as illustrations of material which may not have been found using more traditional research tools. 相似文献

This article is aimed at the practical applications of information available on the Internet and how it creates a new role f a reference librarians as information facilitators. It focuses on the Info.umd.edu database developed by the University of Maryland and how it makes the transfer of files very easy. There are examples of how his database can be used to facilitate librarian and faculty interaction and collegiality, and how it is a resource for answers to specific questions. It contains specific examples of how the database was used in the above situations. One such example is how the author introduced the Women's Studies sections of the database to the Women's Studies faculty. They saw it as a wonderhrl resource for information as to what other faculty are doing across the country. The database has been used to enhance the image of the library on campus. Within minutes of downloading the text of the Democratic National Platform from Info, the college president's office called thanking the library for making it available to the campus. It presents the idea that the information available on the Internet is still essentially an untapped resource by many faculty and students. Librarians have the skills to become guides and mentors in the exploitation of that resource. Databases like Info.umd.edu and knowledge of them make us a valuable commodity on campus. 相似文献

我国高校图书馆资源共享的实践表明,中央直(部)属高校图书馆与地方高校图书馆之间的共建共享关系难于维系.基于“智猪博弈”模型分析二者合作困境发现,造成二者合作困境的根本原因是资源共享主体间信息贫富差距大、利益失衡.因此,地方高校可以把图书馆资源共享置于高校教育资源共享的大背景之中统筹考虑,将高校其他教育资源作为图书馆资源共享的补偿或中介,以实现中央直(部)属高校图书馆与地方高校图书馆资源的共享. 相似文献

数字资源网络化以后,中文与外文资源互链共享存在一系列问题：资源文字表述方式上的差异,资源链接的产权保护,信息孤岛的存在,资源编码标准的多样化等。针对这些问题,文章提出利用基于DOI的开放式知识链接体系来搭建中文与外文资源互链的桥梁,并在精品科技期刊平台建设中,利用DOI进行中文与外文链接的实验研究,结果表明该方法有效可行。 相似文献
