As editor of On My Mind, I wanted to introduce myself and let you, the reader, know a little bit about what I intend this column to be. Primarily, I want it to be a venue for you to write about anything that has been bugging you or that you think needs to be said. This is an opinion column so please share your opinion. Maybe you want to talk about what you wished you had learned in library school. Or, perhaps you have a bone to pick with people who rely too much on using statistics in their weeding of books from the library's shelves. Whether the majority of librarians hold your opinion or not, I will try to give you a venue to express your thoughts. Also, this column is intended to be informal; feel free to use the first person. That does not mean that you cannot or should not back up statements you make with research. Please do. It does mean that personal anecdotes and stories are encouraged and make for a more interesting read. Finally, inquiries into writing for this column should be directed to me via e-mail. 网络社区收藏的资源往往倾向于满足日常信息需要，涉及的主题范围比较专指，而传统的图书馆分类主题词表则倾向于学术性和综合性，不适于网络社区用户的需要，因此需要建立适于这些特定用户群的分类主题词表。本文作者曾经参与了一些数字化图书馆的项目，设计开发过一此专门用于这些目的的小型核心词表。这篇文章介绍了作者们在开发过程中遇到的一些问题以及解决这些问题的方法和策略。小型“核心”主题测表可以定义为为网络社区资源专用的主题分类表。通过对元数据记录中的主题词频统计分析，作者确定哪些是核心词，然后再将这些核心词分成网络、图书馆、机构组织和设施、图书馆类型、组织名称和服务、地名、一般主题词、和参考工具等8个大类。在这8个大类下再进一步细分到二级类目。本文展示了三个图书馆的实例，它们主要是为公共图书馆的用户设计的。通过解释他们在这三个项目中的做法，作者讨论了在开发过程中的技术和成本以及在维护方面的问题，并且比较了一些类似的词表。 相似文献

“It’s who you know, not what you know,” is a familiar phrase—often repeated by professionals in Hollywood. The present study focuses on “who knows who” among Hollywood television writers. Using network analysis, this exploratory study identifies the degree of centralization and types of connections found in this elite writers’ network. Results show a great deal of collaboration in the network, and while male writers are more connected overall in Hollywood, women are more likely to be brokers—a structurally advantageous position. The authors provide explanations for collaboration patterns, especially with regard to gender differences in network roles, and propose avenues for further research. 相似文献

What is the position regarding equality of conditions of access, freedom to communicate and interactivity facilities, understood as a network of exchanges? At some point in our library career, we may find ourselves in charge of an intern, volunteer, part-timer or even full-time staff, whether of our own initiative or not. There might be an organizational shift: someone retires or divisions merge and you might find yourself in charge of one person, or many. AbstractHow does a small community college library, without marketing experience or budget, advocate for its value to a campus community and its administrators? We did so by creating an engaging, bright, and easy-to-read “pocket-graphic.” In this column, we reflect on the process of shaping a multi-use product out of a mountain of data. Through research in design practices, field observations of popular information tools, and an uncomfortable step into braggadocio, we learned to articulate the successes of our library. Our “pocket-graphic” told our story, yes – but it also provoked surprise, questions (“you really have all that?”) and delight in the lesser known successes (“you really DO all that!”). In the process, we connected our students more deeply to helpful services and resources, faculty to supportive instruction, and positively changed the tone of conversation with all our stakeholders. By turning data points into selling points, we found insights and a focus that moved our own development forward, helping ourselves to define improved priorities for advancing our critical role in student success. 相似文献

Global cultures are merging into one culture. What has been a difference in cultures that has existed for several millennia may be gone by the end of this century, possibly much sooner. Okay, you might be thinking, how? Ah, there’s the rub! For in order that multiple cultures will disappear, languages must merge, religions must disappear, governments must change, and all the other elements that constitute unique cultures must melt together into a singular pull-down menu bar or an easily updated app-driven hand-held (if not much smaller) device. So much of that is already happening that it is hard to claim much insight with much certainty. This article seeks to examine the roles of each—culture, applications, and advertising—in the change in the way we, as individuals, shift our own societies, our own communication. The chances are the first thing you when you set out to write an article is the title. But what factors transform a mediocre title into a good title? Firstly, it should be both informative and specific, using words or phrases likely to be used when searching for information, for example ‘nurse education’ rather than simply ‘nurse’. Secondly, it should be concise yet convey the main ideas clearly; articles with short titles reporting study findings have been found to attract higher numbers of viewing and citations. Thirdly, provide details of the study design to assist the reader in making an informed choice about the type of project your article is reporting. In taking these small steps when developing your title, your title can present a more concise, retrievable and clear articulation of your article. 相似文献

有认识的人或者同一区域的人患有新冠肺炎,是否会更加相信疫情谣言?使用什么渠道会影响对谣言的信任度?本研究探讨新冠疫情中的接近性、传播渠道与谣言信任度之间的关系,在网络平台采集北京、上海、广州、武汉、成都五座城市有效样本813人份。建立中介模型研究发现:疫情接近性对谣言信任度没有直接效应,只有通过人际传播才产生显著的间接效应,通过新闻媒体和社交媒体的间接效应则不成立;同时,新闻媒体使用与疫情谣言信任度呈负相关关系,人际传播、社交媒体使用与疫情谣言信任度呈正相关关系;学历、年龄与疫情谣言信任度均是显著性负相关关系。 相似文献
