In 2012, an academic health sciences library serving a large research university and medical center introduced synchronous online training for a diverse group of users, including clinicians, researchers, faculty, and distance students. Participants in these “Express Training” classes completed two surveys to assess their experiences. Survey results indicated classes were well received but revealed some areas for improvement. Included are issues that should be considered when implementing online library instruction to meet the diverse needs of academic health sciences library users. Given the popularity of online training among on-campus and distance users, it will be continued and expanded. 相似文献

图书馆通过链接Blog建立网络学者文库,是走向开放的数字图书馆的有效途径之一。图书馆建立网络学者文库的可行性可以从几个方面来看:1、Blog已经成为许多学者自己的文库;2、Blog具有自由、开放、共享、互动、非商业化等与图书馆宗旨相一致的特点;3、虽然已经有许多学术网站挂着一些学者文献,但其规模无法满足读者需要;4、专业Blog网站虽然链接着许多学者Blog,但由于专业Blog网站主要面对的是大众,对学者文集的要求很低,所以也不适合读者的要求;5、图书馆既有对学者的凝聚力,又能取得读者的信任。所以,图书馆通过链接Blog建立网络学者文库是必要的,也是可行的。另外,图书馆还可以考虑通过链接Blog建立网络学术图库。 相似文献

[目的/意义]通过对美国iSchools院校图书馆学硕士在线教育现状的分析,归纳总结美国图书馆学硕士在线教育的经验,为后续研究提供借鉴。[方法/过程]基于国内图书馆学教学模式改革的现实需求和在线教育的广阔前景,通过对20所美国iSchools院校的官方网站进行调研,分别从学分学制、课程数量、课程类别、核心课程等方面对其在线教育模式进行详细分析总结,得出对我国图书馆学在线教育建设与发展的启示。[结果/结论]通过调查发现,美国iSchools图书馆学相关专业硕士在线教育呈现出3个特点:课程形式灵活多样,多举措保障在线教学质量;在线课程数量多、覆盖范围广且课程体系完备;在线学习与校园学习基本相同。据此,结合国内现实情况,提出我国图书馆学在线教育的建设应关注国际在线教育的发展态势,改革图书馆学传统教育模式;采取多种授课方式,提高图书馆学在线教学质量;以职业发展为导向,注重人才培养个性化;实现图书馆学传统与在线教育两者优势结合。 相似文献

Online library resources can act as a trusted source to find various references for conducting research or writing research papers. With the increasing number of published papers, the use of online library resources becomes increasingly important for academics, including for university students. This study aims to investigate the factors that lead to the continued use of online library resources among university students in developing countries, especially Indonesia. We investigate the impact of resource quality, confirmation, satisfaction, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment of users on their intention to continue using online library resources and the effect on e-WOM intention. This study will enhance the Post-Acceptance Model of Information System (IS) Continuance by adding several other constructs and tested using data from 215 university students in Indonesia who have used online library resources. The method used to analyze the data is Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the study indicate that satisfaction and perceived enjoyment have a significant effect on the intention to continue using online library resources. In addition, it was also found that the continuation intention to use online library resources also affects the user's intention to convey it to others (e-WOM intention). This study provides insight to online library resources service providers in making improvements and formulating strategies to increase users' intentions to continue using their online library resources. 相似文献

ABSTRACT At Eastern Michigan University, information about library resources and services for Extended Programs (off-campus and online) students was provided in a number of online locations and was sometimes inconsistent and difficult to manage. The library formed an internal task force to evaluate all of the library information and instructional materials provided to Extended Programs students. The task force consolidated key information in one location on the library Web site and collaborated with departments within the library and around campus to provide links from the relevant online locations. This case study describes how Google Analytics was used to assess the use of the revised library Web site and online instructional materials by Extended Programs students. The researchers describe examples of techniques for using Google Analytics and explain how the data collected was used to identify further enhancements to the information provided to Extended Programs students. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The use of virtual or Web-based tours is on the rise in academic libraries, but with the loss of face-to-face contact and direct experience with the library's physical spaces, questions abound about this format's efficacy. Do online tour experiences measure up to those of a guided, face-to-face tour? Do online tours help mold students' perceptions of the library, while imparting important practical knowledge about the library's resources and services? Librarians at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, recently confronted these questions, as they added an option for an online library tour to a large library tour program for freshman that had previously been offered strictly through guided, librarian-led tours. This paper presents the results of a preliminary study comparing the efficacy of learning and affective outcomes between face-to-face library tours and online library tours at Kent State University. 相似文献
