We present the history, a present‐day analysis and perspectives of the market for scholarly e‐resources (e‐journals, e‐books, etc) in Russia. Our study is based on 10 years' experience of the Russian national library consortium NEICON, which is one of the major players in the market. Indicators and trends of the economics, human resources, and scientific output of Russian science are presented. The NEICON consortium activities are described. The perspectives, peculiarities, and practicalities of entering the Russian market are outlined, as well as what a new publisher entrant might expect to achieve. 相似文献

An interactive system of expert evaluations of offers made by the Russian and foreign information market of scientific literature issued in both printed and electronic form is described. The system supports the database of experts and the periodically updated database of offers of the information market. An expert evaluation is carried out over the internet from a special division of the LNS RAS site, access to which is available only to authorized users, i.e., experts. Expert selectors make decisions about ordering various editions for funding from the centralized library system by analyzing tables formed based on processed results from expert evaluations with the help of specially created software tools. 相似文献

A grant from the Center for International Business Education at the University of Michigan made possible a visit to the Commonwealth of Independent States to discover sources of information for investors in those nations. Visits were made to such libraries as the Russian State Library, to locate sources of information about the evolving economy there. These works, including periodicals, statistical works, tools on economic theory, conditions, and commerce, dictionaries, and bibliographies, are described. This paper reports the findings of a study on the positioning of an academic book in the information market. The contribution and significance of academic books to the spheres of science and education has been noted. The quantitative characteristics illustrate the relative stagnation of an academic book publishing based on the data obtained from the Russian Book Chamber. Expert-based evaluations from the leading research and academic libraries indicate that the official statistics are somewhat overstated and the quality of academic books has declined. 相似文献

This study examines certain changes made within the Russian newspaper industry both before and after the political transformations occurring in the former Soviet Union. Although these changes began after Gorbachev came to power, the most dramatic changes took place after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The political economy perspective provides a useful means to explain the relation between these socioeconomic transitions and the newspaper industry. Since the failed coup of August 1991, the Russian media have attempted to adapt to conditions persistent with the free market economy. As a result of the free market economy, the Russian newspaper industry currently tends to depend on advertising revenue for survival. 相似文献

This article draws attention to a segment of the Russian literary market that is underrepresented in American research library collections, namely light popular fiction and particularly the titles that belong to the detektiv genre. The results of an informal survey of scholars and bibliographers are presented and collection patterns are briefly discussed. Following an exposition of the available collection development tools for Russian light fiction, the article concludes with a call for greater emphasis on collecting these materials in North American research libraries. 相似文献

A call slip analysis for the years 1985 through September 1988 was conductcd in the Slavic and Baltic Division of the New York Public Library in order to determine the usage of the Current Periodical and Newspaper Collection by the Division's patrons. The conclusion of this analysis was that the most read materials were newspapers published in Russian. It confirmed findings of earlier studies on Russian or Soviet readership that newspapers are the primary source of information about current events in the Soviet Union for Russian readers. Currently important Russian and foreign sources of scientific and technical information related to robotics are discussed. An attempt is made to analyze scientific and technical periodicals of the relevant subject matter, selected from the global knowledgebase of periodicals, that is, Ulrich’s Directory of Periodicals. Leading scientific serials attributed to robotics that have the best bibliometric indicators according to the global information and analytical systems Scopus and Web of Science are identified. The specific features of the classification of the subject matter in various classification systems and rubricators for scientific and technical information are considered. Special attention is given to Russian scientific periodicals on robotics included in Russian scientific electronic library (eLibrary.ru) and information resources of All-Russian Institute for Scientific and Technical Information of Russian Academy of Sciences (VINITI RAS).
