The Code of Professional Practice (COPP) and the guidelines were studied and reviewed by working group 2 (WG2) of the European Safety and Reliability Association's (ESRA) Technical Committee on Risk Management (ERMTC). The COPP and the guidelines are discussed in this article along with the observations of the ERMTC WG2. The conclusions of the working group are succinctly stated: “Throughout Europe the COPP and the GUIDELINES are clearly well regarded and no substantial changes are needed”. ESRA recommends their widespread distribution throughout Europe for training purposes. The COPP is also included in the guidelines as an appendix, which can be obtained directly from the Engineering Council, 10 Maltravers Street, London WC2R 3ER, UK. 相似文献

This paper describes a unique and innovative undergraduate degree course aimed at meeting the educational and practical needs of graduates who intend to pursue careers within the international arena of disaster management. Drawing from a Scottish study, this article examines ways in which the school environment can impact upon the well-being of pupils and their associated behaviour. It identifies tensions between existing school structures and cultures and the promotion of positive mental health, particularly in relation to the curriculum, pastoral care, discipline and teacher/pupil relationships. In many cases, schools attempt to address mental well-being by bolting fragmented initiatives onto existing systems, and we argue that a more fundamental review of values, policies and practices throughout the school is needed. This paper also looks at the roles of interagency workers in schools, and reports that, in most cases, these workers are seen as offering a parallel service to the mainstream school, targeted at the most troubled or troublesome pupils. We suggest that schools should draw on the skills and understandings of these workers to help build new cultures throughout the school for the benefit of all children and young people. 相似文献

Satisfaction with present emphasis on various components of curricula and the desire for changes in those same components were assessed as they related to two major opposing perspectives influencing professional identity, strict preparation in classical psychology, and broad, general, experiential preparation. A questionnaire asking counselor educators to rate 25 curriculum areas of their programs with respect to satisfaction and amount of change desired was sent to a modified, stratified random sample of 108 institutions. The responses on the 60 returns were analyzed by using Hotelling's T2 and subsequent dependent samples' t tests for indications of discrepancies between present and desired emphases. Significant discrepancies were examined for trends. Overall, there was an expressed desire for increased emphasis in every area. Grouping components logically produced a ranking according to desire for change as follows: career counseling, statistics-research and counseling experience, counseling theory and psychological background, and assessment. Implications of the findings for counselor preparation are discussed in relation to trends found regarding program size and available resources. 相似文献
