The last two decades have not been kind to professional engineers in the public service. Numbers have been slashed, their status has declined and engineering advice does not carry the weight it once did. While it has been said that non-engineers do not appreciate the benefits of engineering advice, part of the reason for this is that engineers themselves and the engineering profession have taken a low-key approach to promoting the benefits of engineering advice. If engineers want to have a positive future in the public sector, this attitude needs to change. Engineers and the engineering profession need to be proactive in promoting the benefits of sound engineering advice, professional judgment and the skills of engineers. This paper suggests a number of ways of accomplishing these goals. 相似文献

This case study focuses on the development of leaders within Kentz, including utilizing action learning to align the development of people with the process of mobilizing people to effect change and turn strategy into effective action. 近年来,德国针对世界高等教育迅速发展并重视精英教育的新形势,提出并实施了卓越计划,力图通过加大对高校科研项目的经费资助,集聚促进国内高校科学研究发展的优质资源,从高等教育均衡发展向追求卓越发展的理念过渡,最终实现德国高等教育领先世界的复兴目标。虽然卓越计划在各方博奕及均衡发展的传统观念影响下,存在着经费不足等困扰,但其推动德国高校之间加大竞争力度的战略意义远大于现实意义。 相似文献

ABSTRACTInclusive Excellence (IE) serves as the central topic of the 28th annual Delphine Hanna Commemorative Lecture. Moreover, the professional accomplishments of Delphine Hanna, a kinesiology trailblazer, are explored. I present the concept of Inclusive Excellence and articulate its applicability to academic leadership in the field of kinesiology. Particularly, I provide a definition of Inclusive Excellence, guiding principles, an overview of the history of Inclusive Excellence, and examples of promising strategic practices. Lastly, I present a case-study outlining Auburn University’s integration of Inclusive Excellence principles and implementation of practices. "卓越工程师教育培养计划"是一个新生事物,因此,需要从理论上明晰以下问题:卓越是什么意思,事实上,"卓越计划"的"卓越"是相对概念,强调各种类型的工程师都可以追求卓越,都可以很优秀,强调追求卓越的精神和态度。保证达成卓越应主要做好5个方面的工作,一是创立高校与行业企业联合培养人才的新机制,二是创新工程教育的人才培养模式,三是建设高水平工程教育教师队伍,四是扩大工程教育的对外开放,五是制定"卓越计划"人才培养标准。参与"卓越计划"的学生毕业后尚不是完全意义上的工程师,只是工程师的"毛坯"。如何落实一年企业实习时间,根据不同层次要有不同的考虑。"卓越计划"最核心的内容是要改变高等工程人才培养计划。 相似文献

大学招生在高等教育实现“卓越性”与“公平性”的目标中起着至关重要的作用。美国的大学在招生中享有极高的自主性,它们有权制定反映本校办学特征的招生政策,并最终有效地实现大学招生的卓越与公平目标。中国人民大学积极尝试在自主招生中兼顾“卓越”与“公平”理念,今年推出的“圆梦计划”具有表率和实践作用,可以激发其他大学在招生中更加合理地追求“卓越”与“公平”。但是由于受自主招生人数的限制,“圆梦计划”受益学生人数少、候选学校有限,因而有一定的局限性。 相似文献
