Environmental education scholars have argued for the need to focus on identity as a more predictive factor than attitude of individuals’ environmental behavior. We examine individuals’ decision-making as a mediating process between identity and behavior. University undergraduates (N = 299) were surveyed, with a select sub-sample interviewed. As expected, environmental identity was correlated with pro-environment behavior (recycling). However, students with lower pro-environmental identity also recycled regularly. Similarly, analysis of decision-making revealed most students, regardless of their environmental identity, do not think much when recycling. Environmental structures such as presence of recycling bins surfaced as a powerful influence on pro-environment behavior.  相似文献

This study examines the relationships between the environmental attitudes and environmental knowledge of schoolchildren within the framework of an environmental intervention. We employed questions from the 2-MEV model to monitor students’ environmental attitudes in terms of the model factors Preservation and Utilisation while concurrently monitoring three environmental knowledge dimensions (system, action-related and effectiveness knowledge) at three different test times during the course of a four-day field centre programme for fourth-graders (N = 133, Mage = 9.8 years). Probably due to measurement constraints (e.g. a ceiling effect, social desirability), we found no correlation between environmental knowledge and the attitude Preservation at all test times. The attitude Utilisation correlated negatively with all environmental knowledge dimensions, indicating that students who score higher on Utilisation are more likely, for example, to have and gain more system knowledge through programme participation than the other students or vice versa, as a causal relationship cannot be derived from our analyses: system knowledge may also influence Utilisation. In other words, children who refrain from (ab)using nature also seem to put more effort into improving their environmental knowledge and/or children who engage in learning about the environment will become less exploitative towards the environment.  相似文献

This study explored the extent to which teachers integrate environmental education and local environmental knowledge into the curriculum of a secondary school in the Okavango Delta of Botswana. In doing so, the study explored the potential value of place-based education in redressing concerns brought to light in postcolonial critiques of education in southern Africa. The study found that teachers sought to integrate environmental education into the curriculum through lessons that included references to local place names and local flora and fauna, lessons addressing issues related to environmental resource management in the region, and the acknowledgment and celebration of traditional lifestyle activities in the schools. The study also found that efforts to integrate environmental education into the curriculum were limited by a lack of educational resources needed to support these endeavors as well as a lack of adequate teacher training promoting this educational goal. The results also illustrate the potential value of place-based education in redressing the legacy of southern Africa’s colonial past in schools in Botswana and southern Africa.  相似文献

Pressing problems of environmental degradation are typically argued to require coordination, primarily through state intervention. Social scientists are struggling to understand how attitudes toward such state interventions are formed, and several drivers have been suggested, including education. People with university degrees are assumed to have certain values as well as the analytical skills to understand complex issues such as climate change. By using a unique panel data-set with students in different university programs (economics, law and political science), this study provides a better understanding of whether and how education affects environmental policy acceptance. One important finding is that university studies generate variation in support and scepticism toward different types of policy measures. For example, economics students tend to develop more positive attitudes toward market-based policy measures. This indicates a potential for education to increase the societal support often hindering the implementation of such policy tools.  相似文献

伴随海洋油气开发活动逐渐增多,对其的监督管理提出了更高要求。本文通过梳理美国海洋油气勘探开发环境保护管理的法律体系,研究其在墨西哥湾漏油事件后的监督管理框架,剖析海洋开发活动事前、事中和事后的管理制度,归纳总结了美国海洋油气开发环境保护管理值得借鉴的经验:一是建立了较为完整的法律法规体系和衔接较为紧密的制度体系,二是在管理中善于运用经济处罚和油污责任信托基金等经济手段,三是反应迅速、运行高效的海上溢油应急体系发挥着重要作用。通过总结这些经验,希望对提升我国海上油气开发管理水平起到借鉴作用。  相似文献

选用192只28±2d实验用清洁级SD大鼠,分为6组,每组32只,雌雄各半,分别饮用添加硼0、40、80、160、320和640mg/L的蒸馏水,试验期60d,分别于试验第30d(65日龄)和60d(95日龄)每组随机取鼠16只,雌雄各8只,10%水合氯醛腹腔麻醉,立即解剖取胸腺,称重,制作石蜡切片,HE染色,光镜观察并显微摄影.结果显示:与对照组相比较,65日龄试验Ⅲ~Ⅴ组雄鼠和试验Ⅴ组雌鼠胸腺质量显著或极显著降低(P<0.05或P<0.01);95日龄试验Ⅰ组雄鼠胸腺质量显著升高(P<0.05),试验Ⅴ组雄鼠和雌鼠显著或极显著降低(P<0.05或P<0.01).65日龄和95日龄试验Ⅴ组雄鼠和雌鼠胸腺器官指数显著低于对照组(P<0.05);试验Ⅰ、Ⅱ组胸腺结构表现较明显促进作用;试验Ⅲ、Ⅳ组胸腺结构呈现一定的退化迹象;试验Ⅴ组胸腺结构退化现象明显,实质内淋巴细胞数量明显减少.试验结果表明,饮水添加40、80mg/L硼对大鼠胸腺发育及其组织结构有较明显促进和改善作用;添加160、320mg/L硼对胸腺发育有一定不良影响;添加640mg/L硼对大鼠胸腺发育则有明显的抑制甚至毒性作用.  相似文献

城市建筑节能主要体现在城市建筑的绿色节能技术上,绿色建筑在概念上主要包含如下几点:①节能,在这里主要是强调要我们减少各种各样的资源浪费;②保护环境,在这里主要是强调减少环境污染以及减少二氧化碳的排放数量;③满足人们使用上的要求,为人们提供的使用空间要做到“适用”、“健康”、“高效”。绿色建筑从设计、建设、使用、维护到拆除形成了的周期都有各种各样的节能及环保要求。这意味着在设计阶段就要重点考虑环境因素的利用,还要尽量地降低建设过程对环境造成的不良影响,且确保建筑在运行阶段能为人们提供低耗、舒适、健康的空间,并全力降低拆除时对环境所造成的危害程度。  相似文献

Abstract

Hypoxic training methods are increasingly being used by researchers in an attempt to improve performance in normoxic ambients. Moreover, previous research suggests that resistance training in hypoxia can cause physiological and muscle adaptations. The primary aim of this study was to compare the effects of 8 weeks of high-intensity resistance circuit-based (HRC) training in hypoxia on body composition and strength performance. The secondary aim was to examine the effects of HRC on metabolic parameters. Twenty-eight male participants were randomly assigned to either hypoxia (Fraction of inspired oxygen [FIO2]?=?15%; HRChyp: n?=?15; age: 24.6?±?6.8 years; height: 177.4?±?5.9?cm; weight: 74.9?±?11.5?kg) or normoxia [FIO2]?=?20.9%; HRCnorm: n?=?13; age: 23.2?±?5.2 years; height: 173.4?±?6.2?cm; weight: 69.4?±?7.4?kg) groups. Training sessions consisted of two blocks of three exercises (Block 1: bench press, leg extension and front pull down; Block 2: deadlift, elbow flexion and ankle extension). Each exercise was performed at six repetition maximum. Rest periods lasted for 35-s between exercises, 3-min between sets and 5-min between blocks. Participants exercised twice weekly for 8 weeks, and body composition, strength and blood tests were performed before and after the training program. Lean body mass and bone mineral density significantly increased over time in the HRChyp (p?<?.005; ES?=?0.14 and p?<?.014; ES?=?0.19, respectively) but not in the HRCnorm after training. Both groups improved their strength performance over time (p?<?.001), but without group effect differences. These results indicate that simulated hypoxia during HRC exercise produced trivial effects on lean body mass and bone mineral density compared to normoxia.  相似文献
