The emergence of social media has radically transformed the way we create and consume information. These changes have in turn given rise to new models of librarianship centered on principles of participation, interaction, and collaboration. Over the last decade, academic libraries have eagerly adopted social media as a means of enhancing services and connecting with a new generation of users. But how exactly has this technology changed libraries? In what ways has the social web transformed library services or our relationships with users? This article attempts to assess the impact of social media on academic libraries in the United States through a review of the literature published since 2005. In particular, it looks at how academic libraries have used social media to improve or develop new services. By comparing published case studies with the theoretical literature, this article seeks to separate theory from practice and determine the extent to which the social web has transformed library practice. The author concludes that, despite several noteworthy examples, the majority of social library applications ultimately fail to live up to the transformative potential promised within the literature and that this failure may have more to do with philosophical rather than technical limitations.  相似文献

外来术语的引进不仅仅是一个简单的翻译问题。softpower这一术语进入中国之后被翻译为“软实力”、“软权力”和“软力量”,甚至引起了学者间的持久争论。从术语学的角度看,对softpower的翻译违反了术语的单义性和单名性原则,没有充分考虑来源语中该术语的概念体系和目标语中该术语的概念体系,以及这两个概念体系之间的对应。从翻译学的角度看,解构主义给翻译的异化原则提供了理论支持,使译者对来源语术语的忠诚度减弱,自我创作成分增加。从意识形态的视角看,学术本土化为通过术语翻译的方式进行所谓的创新提供了道义支持。  相似文献

吉姆康明斯提出了一个理论框架来分析少数族裔学生学业失败的原因,以及之前曾尝试过的,诸如补偿教育和双语教育这样的教育改革相对缺乏成功的原因。这些尝试之所以没有成功是因为教育者和少数族裔学生之间的关系以及学校和少数族裔社区的关系都没有得到显著的改变。研究旨在为教育者提供一些改变这些关系,从而赋权学生,使得学生在学业上取得成功的方法。  相似文献

The present study initially discussed the various aspects of interculturality in higher education and the value of intercultural experience for developing intercultural competence. Then, it investigated the relationship between intercultural experience and students’ progress in their studies from prep year to senior years. The findings indicate that students do not gain intercultural experiences as a natural outcome of progress in higher education. Afterward, the relationship between intercultural experience and motivation for academic mobility was researched. According to the results, having foreign friends and attending intercultural events could be taken as predictors of lenience towards student exchange programs. Finally, the motivating and deterring factors of academic mobility for the participants were determined, and suggestions for future research were made. Participants were 207 students from different study years at a university in Turkey. A mixed questionnaire was employed to obtain data related to students’ intercultural experiences and their perceptions concerning the benefits and barriers of academic mobility.  相似文献

摘要:主要采用文献资料法和历史研究法,以跨学科的视野阐释和分析中华龙舟文化在不同历史时期的变化,从生态适应的角度,纵向梳理了中华龙舟文化的发展历程,认为中华龙舟文化的起源、演变及传承等整个发展过程均是生态适应的结果。主要从自然生态、社会生态和文化生态3个维度,分析讨论了中华龙舟文化演变过程中的生态适应问题。研究认为:自然生态促进了中华龙舟文化区域性的演成,并赋予其地域性特征;社会生态促使中华龙舟文化服务于政治需要、社会教化和社会整合;而文化生态促进了中华龙舟文化与他文化的横向交流和融合。同时还认为,面对自然生态、社会生态和文化生态的不断变化,当前及今后的中华龙舟文化都会通过不断的自我调适来适应所处生态的变化。一定程度上有助于加深对中华龙舟文化发展问题的理解和认识,进一步拓展民族传统体育文化研究的视野。  相似文献

Virtual and Augmented Realities are advancing technologies that are becoming more popular in gaming and programming communities. However, virtual reality has been in development for decades. As libraries are often at the forefront of offering new and advancing technologies to their communities, virtual and augmented reality programs have become new additions to library services. While gaming is the prominent use of these technologies, virtual and augmented reality affords many educational opportunities. Mississippi State University Libraries have recently added a virtual/augmented reality lab as part of its library program.  相似文献

Of issue in this paper are the ways in which different forms of narrative may be of value in undertaking research in potentially thorny situations. The project that inspired this paper saw 30 Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy (PESP) Early Career Academics (ECAs) from more than 20 universities across Australasia, North America and Europe, provide narrative accounts of their ongoing academic experiences. From these stories, three letters seeking advice and guidance from leaders in the field were constructed. Following further feedback from the ECAs, the 3 letters were sent to 11 professors in the PESP field with a request to respond, also in letter form. The composite letters and the professorial responses were then the subject of a symposium at an international PESP conference. While the larger project engages with questions of being and becoming an academic in the neoliberal university, this paper is primarily concerned with methodological issues, including our steps and missteps with narrative, inquiry and the field. More specifically, the focus is on narrative as both the method and phenomena of study. As such, we consider issues associated with using dialogue as data, the provocation of participants, as well as both the presentation and representation of data and the relative power of the participants. In doing so, we critically engage with issues of anonymity (or lack thereof), the practice of ‘researching up’ and finally reach the conclusion that the careful approach to data generation, treatment and presentation necessitated by this project, should be a more regular feature of all qualitative inquiry.  相似文献

针对美国大学体育联盟(NCAA)在学生运动员招募过程中长期存在非法招募和学术作弊等违规行为,研究以边缘腐败视角解读相关违规行为及其特征。研究认为,违规方式较为轻微因而具有模糊性,直接利益受益者相互包庇因而具有隐蔽性,破坏了高校招生公平制度因而具有衍生性。NCAA为维持联盟公平公正准则,通过健全机构严格审核、精细招募程序量化标准、制定"极限施压"惩治制度等措施取得一定治理效果,但也存在治理局限。我国大学运动员招生实践中应采取厘清自主招生权限、构建全面监督体系、健全法律法规体系、开展反腐败教育等措施严厉打击招生腐败。  相似文献

摘要:国家社会科学基金项目课题指南正越来越深刻地影响着学术期刊编辑的选题策划,进而影响到编辑传播行为的导向。研究试图为编辑传播行为提供科学的理论指导,以体育学术期刊的传播导向为研究对象,采用综合分析法与文献资料法,以2016年国家社会科学基金项目课题指南(体育学)为例,阐述了该课题指南从体育改革与发展、体育与健康促进、全民健身、体育产业、体育法学、公共体育服务、体育传播学等领域对体育学术期刊编辑选题策划的借鉴价值及其传播行为的导向价值。体育学术期刊编辑在传播实践中,应注重参考国家社会科学基金项目课题指南,力求提升选题策划的整体质量,不断提升体育学术期刊的学术影响力与社会美誉度。该研究有助于学者与编者更精准地把握好研究方向与选题方向,进一步繁荣体育人文社会学领域的学术研究。  相似文献

This paper provides a history of academic development by examining how a South African institution coped with the potent social forces confronting it before the collapse of apartheid. Theoretically, it draws on the framework of Pierre Bourdieu and engages with a paper written a decade ago by Naidoo, who also used Bourdieu to understand institutional change in South Africa in the late 1980s. Through contrasting the habitus of two professors, it is argued that academic development helps to preserve the autonomy of the university field by refracting forces impinging on it from the economic and political realms.  相似文献
